I mean it was Drew Allar that lost the semifinal
Their defense got them in position to drive down and win with a field goal at least
Regardless, I don’t really see much difference between Penn State’s defense and what we had with Goodwin. Honestly.
Obviously Penn State can stop the run better, but is it that much better? Would they have stopped Texas if they played?
Great athletes that make great plays a lot, but then the same players look like boneheads. Same as Clemson’s.
I don’t like any college defensive coordinators right now. Maybe Golden.
Brent Venebles is the only coach at the college level who I know would work totally.

Yeah, but they're also the same fans that are saying it's a lateral move when they haven't won, or even completed for a national championship in 40 years lol. Haven't won a conference championship in 11 years.

So I’d say it would be a lateral move at best.
Unless we would pay him a lot more than he is making now, why would he leave? They just played in the CFP semifinals, they play in a much better football conference, and their coach is “all in” on the transfer portal and NIL.
Don’t get me wrong, we are a very attractive job for plenty of people, but let’s not act like the same position at Penn State isn’t currently just as good if not better.

JFC pick your narrative. Dabo needs to hire elite coaches only or Clemson is incapable of hiring elite coaches because Clemson is neither elite nor in an elite conference. Which is it Clemson fan?

Looking at his career, he’s had some success.
Overall, the seventh best D in the nation this year. Not great against the pass but not sure what kind of DB talent he had.
This was as also his first year at PSU so not a long record there. FYI, while looking at all the 2024 D stats, did not realize how solid Minnesota was…

Sounds like someone Dabo would hire. Sounds like someone i would not hire. I would want a young, hungry, kick ###, aggressive alpha male personality for my DC. A take no prisoners mentality that needs not one get back coach , but two who can barely contain him. And exudes confidence and is a workaholic.

I'd take him. 8th in ppg given up and 9th against the run. They forced a lot of turnovers as well, not afraid to bring pressure

I almost fell on the floor laughing that Penn State fans think there is less pressure on a DC at Clemson than Penn State. The Nitrany Lions have not won anything since Joe Paterno was coaching there.
Our fans have been livid the last three years and we have won the conference two of those years and either been in playoffs or just miased and played in a NY6 bowl.
We have also replaced the OC and DC over that same period. Yeah there’s less pressure here.
