Unless there are extenuating circumstances, we will always offer the top in-state players. We'd be crazy not to.
Even if we know we have no chance to sign them as was probably the case here, we still offer them.
He's a great prospect, who chose to play for SCAR.
We in turn, received a commitment today from another great player at the same position.

Think Scott is a bigger "star" pickup based on ratings but that shouldn't cause Tiger fans to stoop to the level of saying well we didn't offer him.
Clemson is pulling serious talent lately and no need to act like that when one chooses to go a different place. Even worse when the simple facts show Clemson as well as numerous other big time schools offered and would have loved to have him.
Kind of like the Clowney act. When he was at the Basketball game with Dabo, Clemson fans were crazy big on him. When he committed to So Car idiots started saying he couldn't get in Clemson. Believe me I was at the game when he was there and fans were ecstatic. All schools find a way to get that type of player in their school and Clemson is not above that. Who knows maybe he qualified and it was a non issue anyway.

They're ranked about the same. Davidson is one spot lower on Rivals, 14 spots higher on 247 and, 7 spots lower on ESPN.
