First pass play we call to put our freshman QB in a position to be successful is a slow developing roll out to the left side against the grain and ask him to try to make a play throwing across his body, deep in ND territory.
Just mind blowing.

He did improvise when pressured or it'd been a sack. A delayed QB draw or a naked boot would have been ideal to his strengths.
In his defense, he could have been making those mistakes against BC, or GA tech early games. Not garbage time. Bad management by coach.
That said, watch the play, Ngata got lazy and didn't come back to the ball. Maybe he hasn't been coached too... Idk. But the int wasn't all on DJ. A WR, a good one shields the backer where the only play the backer can make is going through him. Ngata lazily tried to wait on that ball. Cade should have been given the next series.

We do not know who was at fault for the DJU interception. It was clearly miscommunication between the WR & DJU. WR kept running and DJU threw short - thinking WR was going to come back. Dabo said both players were to blame
On the Cade interception, I agree that Ngata should have run back towards the ball.

Watched Ngata, the ball was softly thrown and Cade falling away from the throw caused the ball to clearly be behind him.
Why not give Cade easy flat passes like we did DJ? Or slant?
High percentage, rhythm building play for a freshman QB in a tight spot.
If DJ tried that play this board would melt down, yet our OC asked that of Cade.

Or the fact cade never gets back on the field after this play but dj throws an awful pick 6. The pick was terrible no matter how you slice it. Whether it should have been a pick 6 is another debate. O and he was awful before this
