No news from fall camp about our Offensive Line......

1

Aug 8, 2023, 3:57 PM

Hey, I see some folks on tigerNet complaining that with lots of "great news" from early fall camp performance that there has been no mention of our Offensive Line performance.....and that this was a BAD SIGN.
Well, frankly, I like NOT hearing anything about our OL at this point because for the last 2-3 years it seems like all we heard about our OL during fall camp was that they were going to be "MUCH improved"....and we know how that worked out.

OLINE was never the problem.

WR were never the problem.
RBs were never the problem.
QB Energy was the problem. Play calling was the problem.

False

100% false.

The WR's were largely injured and underperformed (blocking, route running, catching the ball)

The O Line had 2 unfortunate scholarship players, projected to be first or second team the last 2 years that had to retire early b/c of injury. Further, injury also forced us to go much deeper into the depth chart than normal.

RBs performed largely as expected.

Play calling was largely problematic and not immune from excuses, however, it was limited b/c of the problems areas on the o Line and the WRs.

Pump on brother, pump on. Everyone deals with injuries. No one had a brain dead zombie playing QB except for the Clemson Tigers. No one had it that bad. Even the Chickens had enough sense to bring a QB in because they didn’t have one. Guess what? That decision broke the nations longest home winning streak. Believe whatever you want and I will too.

We led the country in drops 2 years ago (breaking our all time record of drops in a season), and had nearly as many last year.

And it's not an opinion that we had more injuries the last 2 years, then the prior 5 years combined. Those are facts.

DJ could throw a deep ball better than a screen or out-route (which is a problem) as he could never find his tempo on shorter routes and was wildly off target. Still, his completion % last year was average so it was great as we've been accustomed to

To say it was all play calling or all on the QB is categorically wrong and simply illuminates anyone's lack of knowledge when they say such.

Ok that’s a fair point you’re trying make. I disagree but whatever. You do realize that the very QB that was a historic bust transferred to a school that he knows no one will see on Tv. And the play caller was fired after one season? Somehow all the other offensive coaches were retained? The only people gone are the ones who you say weren’t totally to blame. Do you remember the USC game? If those 2 were not to blame for that loss, who was?? And that guy in your picture won’t last either if the defense with all that talent doesn’t return to form.

The only time you usually hear about an offensive lineman is

1

Aug 8, 2023, 4:10 PM

… is when he screws up.

Honestly, at this stage of fall camp, I can’t imagine what an offensive lineman could do to rate any sort of newsworthy report.

Just keep them all healthy and working together as a unit and everything will be fine.

I don't know what can be said about an Offensive Line that hasn't been put in full pads yet.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Maybe you don't realize we are 2-3 practices into fall camp and all have been without pads. Also, the media has visibility to 1/10th of the full practice.

You don't want to hear about the Offensive line. No news is amazing news. Now, I am hearing alot about your coot offensive line, mainly that they have no idea who the starting 5 is going to be. See you on another 10 years when you beat us by 1 point again in a massive upset.
