No coach will match Dabo's records at Clemson!

Who do you want?
1) Norvell the Transfer Portal Queen? 2) D Sanders that will be unemployed when his son leaves. 3) Cryin Day that rode Myers coatails and can't make the hump? 4) J Harbaugh Khaki pants and pajama party man 5) Kirby who can't stop reckless driving and graduates 41% 6) Bill O'Brian that killed DW4 career with no OL 7) Napier, nuff said 8) Beamer, nuff said 9) Lincoln Riley, he has stunk especially in defense at USC 10) Kelly 1 or Kelly 2? Both suck!
Seriously, people need to embrace Dabo. Yes question him but saying he needs to go is dumb. Dabo is not a loser in life. He might need a mirror sometimes but tell who has been successful and don't think they are right 95% of the time?
He will keep us as competitive as as any coach we could hire and he will adjust or quit as you lnow losing is not his agenda!

...and what if we win another 9 games this year? Even worse, what if we win even fewer. What if thus downward trend continues. What about the Dabo who stubbornly refuses to adapt to the modern rules of college football. Clearly, doing it his way is not working. Do I want him gone. No, not if he adjusts his approach. Like it or not, his methodology, our offense, his dislike of modern college football have all put us behind the power curve. The hungry Dabo who led us to the top needs to resurface. Currently we have the arrogant Dabo, determined to do it his way results be ######.

You probably dont recall but 9 wins was a super season for 30+ years. Dabo won't stay if he cant compete in his methods. And his methods will likely change as needed to be top 10+team or he will retire. I only see him doing 1 of 2 things. Be successful and have 10+ wins regularly or retire! He won't plug along with 8-9 wins a year, not his DNA.
The immediate satisfaction people may run him off before he hits 10wins again the way the crazies think nowadays.

The current HC and team aren't doing that.
No portal, bragging about sketchy recruiting, poor player development, poor scenes, bad play calling, giving backups a real chance when the starters aren't productive...
The best defensive performance in a whine is Dabo in his (non) call in show.

I was at Clemson during Bowden and when Dabo took over. The hungry and humble coach who took over and led us to the top has been replaced with an arrogant man who won't even take calls on his weekly show.

I do not think Dabo is arrogant. He has principles that he won't waiver from. I support Dabo and his culture and principles. His head and heart are in the right place. He loves and understands Clemson.

Dabo is not arrogant, but he has become defensive. Getting attacked by the 2% of Clemson fans that are nuts! He is the best coach Clemson has ever had, at least in the last 120 years…. There is no other coach that would do a better job at Clemson! It took over 20 long years to recover from losing Danny Ford, and I want Dabo at Clemson until he retires!
He needs to take a closer look at the portal, and NIL is a challenge ($$$$) for Clemson. Otherwise, he has to get focused on getting our Offense back on track!
We have had some awful teams and coaches, but NOT under Dabo. We need to get ‘All In’ behind Dabo!
Go Tigers, have a great season!

I agree with most of your points, but it’s not 2%, it’s more like 50% who are complaining now.
I love Dabo, but he is stubborn now. There’s a pretty famous quote going around from 2015 in which Dabo talks about a business needing to adapt to stay relevant and he compared a football program to this. He has refused to do the things needed to adapt. I personally don’t care what anyone’s feelings are on the portal or NIL, it’s a business and you need use these to succeed at a high level now. Personally, I hate both of them, but that doesn’t matter, I don’t want to do some things I have to for my job, but I have to do them to make my business succeed.
I think a few of our position issues could have been resolved pretty easily. Using the portal to fill a couple, yes I said couple, not what Norvell does, but what every other coach in the country does and adds some leadership or depth in positions that need it. I think on field think leadership is a big issue on offense and it has been since 2021. So bring a good leader from a smaller school in from the portal and teach the younger guys. And saying there hasn’t been anyone available in the portal is completely false as every other team in the country has done it.
Recruiting has dropped off and looks like it will continue to get worse. While we had had top 10 classes before, they are now top 20. I think a part of this is the portal issue. An elite player wants to play with other elite players. If we aren’t brining in elite talent in recruiting and we don’t use the portal, we will never have elite talent. I think it also has to do with our coaching staff, which I will touch on next.
Offense coaching has been bad for a long time. The fact we still have coaches in positions that are rated in the bottom half of D1 is ridiculous for Clemson. I don’t understand Dabo’s refusal to bring in the best coaches possible that fit our culture. This is a business, as Dabo eluded to in 2015, and you need the best management team possible to run a successful business. Again, I think this is due to stubbornness.
Dabo was an incredible coach from 2008 (I was at his first game as the interim and loved him from then on) until 2019. I really hope he can become as open minded and humble as he was back then again, because I think he would be a lot happier. It wouldn’t take much to get us back to an elite level… a few new offensive coaches and using the portal to fill a few gaps. I think we could have beaten Georgia last week had we done these things in the offseason. As I have said on here previously, if we want to be an elite team, we should have had a roster to compete with Georgia in week 1. The ability to do so in available and we need to take advantage of it. We used to win big games in week 1, now we come up with an excuse as to why that game didn’t matter. We should expect better because we know Clemson is capable of being better.
With that said, Go Tigers beat App State!

Tommy Bowden lost 4,5, or 6 games in every season but one (lost 3 in that one). His record indicates that the additional game would have yielded an additional loss half the time.

If we were playing UGA’s or Carolina’s schedules this year, 9 wins would be a heck of a year. Against our current schedule, 9 wins would be disappointing.

but this is 2 years in a row of an ill prepared Clemson team screwing up the opening game with a lack luster performance. At least this year it was to a good team. Best may be the standard but half ast has become a habit.

We can all appreciate what Dabo has done for us, while also recognizing that what he’s doing now isn’t working, it isn’t elite, and it isn’t worth nearly what we are paying him.
At some point, we have to separate his incredible past accomplishments from what he is delivering more recently. We can’t just keep giving him a pass for what is going on now just because he won two national championships.

Post Ford sucked winning 1 ACC championship. Making the NCAA is a goal for the basketball yeam which eludes us basically 1 out of 5yrs. We only have to be top 20% of the teams to make the top 68, but it eludes us. To make the CFP when it was top 4, you had to be top 3%. To make it 6x you have to be top .2% of D1 teams.
A coach that gets you there has the leeway to try it his way for couple yrs. He will either figure it out, change or retire. He will not coach unsuccessfully, for an extended period.

I'd take Lincoln off that list.... if it's the only choices your giving. You'd always have an offense, he actually had good offenses when at ECU. Looks like he finally got him a DC; they looked pretty good against LSU.

I don’t want anyone else. I want Dabo to fix our offensive problems. There is a talent issue, but I think the bigger issue is the scheme. It’s broken, and it’s been broken over multiple coordinators. It’s a Dabo issue.

That was never boring. Just decided. Some folks head out when the competitive phase is over.
Last years coot game the only upside is we won. I’d never rewatch it though. Unlike the ACCCG over UNC when Cade came in for DJ. All the excitement we expect in the college game.

You missed several good options. Jamey Chadwell is a good one. Jed Fisch st Arizona. Lance Leipold at Kansas. Matt Entz, USC assistant and former North Dakota HC. Willie Fritz - current Houston HC and firber Tulane HC
For the starter kit.
If we got Chadwell, he would likely bring Willy Korn with him.

None of them have had Top 10 D1 P5 team. I am a Chadwell fan. Would love to see him at a good D1 team to see his abilities. I have known him since he was at Charleston Southern as a young buck. I knew a couple of his players, one was adopted son of good friends. He is successful but could use more top tier experience. Not sure why he hasnt been scooped as OC, DC or whatever in D1, but my guess is too much Option Football on offense.

But here we are. I love how out of 261 D-I and D-II schools you only list 10 possible coaches. I can't believe that with the money we are giving Dabo, we couldn't find a comparable coach somewhere in college or pro.
Now if you want to rephrase your statement and say "I don't trust our current athletic administration to find a coach who can match Dabo" then I'm ok with that. But to say there is not another coach anywhere capable of matching what Dabo has done is stupid.
