NIKE Contract

3

Aug 3, 2023, 8:28 AM

With the news of Notre Dame contracting a 100-million-dollar deal with Under Amour is it time that Clemson renews their contract with NIKE for a sweeter deal? The last time we negotiated a contract with Nike was a 10-year 58 million deal. I believe we have about 4 years left on that contract. We have become a much bigger and better brand since then. I think Mr. Neff can get over 100 million! What say you?

Oh my bad, I wasn't aware that I had to have tenure to post on the board. Please carry on and represent the Tigers proudly.

More money is good. As for Under Armor vs Nike. I despise Nike and the divisive woke garbage they pump into the sports world, (much like ESPN) but I have no idea if UA is any different.

Welcome to T-Net.

I am sure if we change conference this will give us more leverage to negotiate with vendors. I would think being in the SEC or Big10 would give us some more leverage.

Without knowing the verbiage of the Nike contract there is no way of knowing what Clemsons options are right now.

pinnacle, including coming off a trip to the Sweet 16.

If I was NIKE, I'd argue the shine has worn some in the last 2+ years with no trips to the College Football Playoff & a basketball program having now made the NC2A 2 of 13 years plus 1 play-in game.

But that's just me being business me; don't hate.

Note: One of the reasons reported over the years for Clemson's deal being lower has been Clemson's refusal to let NIKE or any other apparel company fug with the Tigers' uniforms as has been seen across the landscape of college sport. Seems righteous of Clemson, if true.

DSP, I didn't even think of the uniform part. Good point. I remember about a decade ago didn't Nike come out with a 1 game special uniform for us? I believe ALL-In was on the collar or something I can't really remember and maybe we wore it against Miami?

anyone mess with the uniform. Hell, are we just going to give up all control??

Comparatively speaking...

Clemson current contract with Nike is not too bad, particularly when you consider the size of the school, the alumni base and the population of the state. It's actually better than the contract Nike has with FSU, UNC, Duke, and UVa.

That said, I think the biggest mistake Clemson made was not bringing Adidas and UA to the negotiating table. They talked exclusively with Nike.

Here's an idea, why don't you email Graham Neff and see what he says? Are you seriously suggesting that nobody in Clemson Athletics has any concept of branding and brand value?!? Some of you people kill me.

Not a chance we have a contract as large as Notre Dame's.
