I sée a TD, but why would it mean more transferring out? Isn't he the only one who has done it? They paid him well. He wanted more, but the 2 million they gave him isn't a factor.

No, I didn't give a TD. I just think when you pay a kid 2 Mil to get him to sign, he's gonna want a raise each year. So you will likely be in a contract "negotiation" yearly. Nico's issue was he was not that great and not worth the 2 Mil increase. So he walked. I could maybe see it if he was a heisman contender or had won a national championship or something, but I was never super impressed with him.

He seems to have overplayed his hand quite a bit. Tennessee has two other highly rated QBs already on the roster, one of which has supposedly looked better than Iamaleava this spring, and the top rated QB next season committed.
Apparently, Dan Lanning was the one to inform Tennessee that Iamaleava was shopping himself around to try to get leverage in negotiations.
It also sounds like Heupel told him not to come back after not showing up yesterday.

He's talented there's no doubt about it. He'll get another big deal somewhere and probably end up in the Heisman conversation. UT built their roster around this guy....major blow to them. Makes one appreciate Cade that much more.

Once Sluka left UNLV last year, he set off a chain reaction. I doubt we'll hear much from him anymore. Let these kids do this. Their failure just might set some kids straight since it's total anarchy within the NCAA.

It's both when you're talking about someone wanting to make millions of more dollars. No college athlete or any average joe in the world necessarily needs more than 500k-1 million yearly to live extremely comfortably. At that point, you're just stacking money to just have it for your future generations and/or blow it.

2 years ago their Attorney General pushed through a state law that prevented the NCAA from going after UTjr for improperly paying this same player a few million dollars as a recruiting inducement. They helped pave the way to tear down the last remnants of the NCAA’s power, and helped set the table for the unregulated market that led to this situation.

UT started this whole trend in the first place when they gave him $8M sans any accomplishments. This isn’t about principle for them, and it’s not some upstanding move to save college football from its current direction. It’s just a business decision; flip side of the same coin Nico just put on the table.

Agree here. I'm sure there is a lot happening behind the scenes. Neither party involved is in a stronger position with a departure of a starter at the end of spring practice. Sure Tennessee gets to somewhat save face by drawing a line with missing practice and all of that. The real damage was likely done well before. As for the QB - good luck. If he's fortunate enough to be on a draft board in a few years he'll have to answer questions about the way he and his agents/advisors do business.

no other school picks him up to set an example to these kids that they aren't playing in the NFL yet. If some school pays this kid more i would put that school on my hit list to beat by 100 points.
