Doesn't it seem a little odd that we prevent XT from visiting other schools because of his verbal commitment but we don't have problems offering students that have verbal commitments elsewhere?

Good luck? What's that even supposed to mean? I want XT to stick with us, this just struck me as hypocritical. Seems like you must think I just made this account to troll this post. I've lurked Tigernet for years.

Maybe you missed Dabo's comments on this

If they will consider us and visit us, he doesn't see them as committed. Different programs, different definitions.
If you've lurked for years you should know how newbies get treated after posting negative crap about our coach in their first poast. I'm extremely nice compared to others here. Good luck.

Our policy is no more visits after you commit. Other schools offer our commits all the time. Don't for a second think that other schools don't try to get our commits to visit.

Yeah I know people will offer our commits all day. But if the message is that verbal commitments mean something, and we turn around and offer recruits that already have verbal commitments, it comes across as a double standard. That's all.
Still love Dabo though, and am incredibly amped about this season and next.

Sorry but disagree with your point of view. Offers and visits are two different things.

It's not hard to understand. Dabo considers commitment to mean that a prospect is done with recruiting. That responsibility is on he recruit. In Dabo's mind if a recruit is taking visits he is not committed. If one of our recruits is taking visits it means that he is not committed to Clemson. If an Auburn commit is taking a visit somewhere he is not committed to auburn. Only the recruit can be responsible for his commitment, Dabo can throw out the offer and the recruit can decline to visit. If he chooses to visit he is not committed. I think a Dabo applies this way of thinking very consistently and it is not hypocritical in any way.

That's right, Dabo Swinny never has to this day, ever pull a scholarship from a recruit that has committed, and he won't. Boom coach does it every year, and the SEC allows it bc not going by the rule is what the sec promotes to help make better teams. Clemson is the defending national champions, and as of right now the best team in college FB, and Dabo has never pulled a scholarship to get to, and stay at #1!!! As Dabo states all the time, we do thing the right way, and that is our standard, only the right way!!!

Come on other schools don't commit to the kid like we do. Other schools will pull a scholly for a better player in a minute we don't. The word commitment is different for us then other schools. I get what your saying we offer committed guys but don't let our commits visit. Other schools also push kids into committing on their schedule not the commits and we don't Dabo has said many times take your visits if you are unsure don't commit if you wanna visit bc we want to be your school but don't pressure guys!

Good gosh almighty!!! Why is this so freaking hard

to understand? Sorry for going off on you, but this is not an original question. Many simpletons before you have tried to pose the same thought. Maybe you all are trying to be critical of Dabo and this is your best shot. Or perhaps, you just can't grasp the concept. It's really not that hard.
If a player wants to commit to Clemson our coaches expect them to be committed. No flirting with other programs. No other visits. If you want to do that stuff, then wait to commit. If you are still visiting other schools, are you really committed?
Anyone can offer our commits and they do. Clemson can offer anybody else's commits and they do. If we offer an Auburn commit and he says thanks coach, but I'm committed to Auburn. That's fine. But if that recruit says thanks for the offer Coach, I would like to visit Clemson. THEN IS NOT TRULY COMMITTED.
Surely you understand the concept. If not, then you probably are just trying to troll. And if that's the case...congratulations. You got your desired response.

It's pretty simple. If we offer and you commit, we hold your spot. No more visits to other schools as we are holding a spot specifically for you. We may even stop recruiting others in your position as we have "filled" that spot (and may not need anymore players for that position). You honor your commitment and we will honor ours by saving your spot for signing day.
If we offer and you want to take other visits, then don't commit. However, we will continue to recruit others in your position so you may not have a "spot" left if you want to commit sometime later.
Other schools hope the numbers work out by offering many more players than scholarships available; however, they may also yank the rug out from under a kid on or near signing day if they fill all their scholarships spots with "better" players...or they'll just "process" current players off the team.

Dabo and staff does what few teams do, they recruit the exact number they need. They commit to the player when he committs to us.that means he doesn't lose that scholarship. Its his for four years, even if he never see's the field . Dabo doesn't cut players. Thats why he recruits 14 players when everyone else is recruiting 28. I believe it is very fair that he expects them to just keep their word when Dabo is blessing them with security of getting a free education. If he got hurt the first day and quit football , he still gets a free ride. I think the player learning to keep their word is just the first of many life lessons Dabo will teach them a make them better people. GO TIGER'S!!!!

So to me a "verbal commitment" is like saying you're in a relationship. Maybe that's the wrong way of thinking about it.
Basically your point is "if you're in a relationship, no flirting with other people." Which, duh. Perfect. Ain't nobody got time for that, and I can respect that.
But we're also like "hey girl, I know you're in a relationship, but just saying we'd love to be your boy".
I just remember how salty I was when Nkemdiche switched to Ole Miss. We had the #1 D in the nation that year and we could have had both him and Vic Beasley on the same D Line. I respect the fact that we have a hard line about our commits flirting with other schools, but I would expect us to also respect other relationships, if you will. Even though people are constantly trying to take our recruits.
Seems like you guys deal with a lot of scar trash talk about this topic. I'm not one of those people. Please chill with the insults and have a freaking conversation.

pretty sure the only time that they offer a committed recruit is when that recruit tells them he would consider an offer. We don't pull the offer when something better comes along - unlike Bama, Scar, etc.

How do we know how "salty" you were. You wasn't here to show us. I know the coots are a train wreck right now, and the only topics of interest on the coot board are bashing Clemson and Dabo and cheating. Yes, it's a downward spiral. Dabo knows what he is doing.

National Champions, who also happen to be ranked #2 currently, was a major coot talking point about our coach. Not to mention it is a silly argument. And you want us to believe you were not trolling? Sure. You weren't looking for discussion. You were trolling. Sorry I hurt your feelings.

I mean it's not like kids don't offer our guys and we don't have decommits, just once you commit then your a tiger and we leave that poisistion alone bc you gave us your word clemson doesn't oversign and also encourages the kid b4 he commits to us to take visits to really know bc our commitment is stronger than other schools bc we are committed to them as well when other schools will pull schollys for better guy we don't!

WE? Do you have a mouse in your pocket, you must, bc I can't see a Clemson person wanting to judge Dabo's rules, and it isn't Dabo's fault that any other school doesn't have his same rule about committed players. Each to their own, and until you become the Clemson HC, don't let what Dabo does with the making of his recruitment rules bc, he has never made a rule that committed players couldn't come to vist or even sign with Clemson if that is what they want to do. The same coaches that fully understand that Dabo want's his commits to shut their recruitment down, but they still come after our commits just as they never had committed any where. If Auburn never comes after another recruit of ours, I'm thinking that Dabo would show and repay the same respect. But Auburn has had players that was committed to us, playing on their team. Get on back over with your coot buddies and discuss it over on FGF where someone maybe hungry to hear what you have to say!!!

What does this say about Clemson and Justyn Ross ?
Sep 21, 2017, 8:44 AM

Thought he was a Clemson lean ... can't imagine we'd take both.
Maybe Dabo is trying to put Auburn on defense, trying to protect the progress they've made with Ross ?
I dunno.
