Heisman Trophy? Watson blows Jackson away with championship November
The Heisman Trust mission statement sounds like it was written with Deshaun Watson in mind. The Heisman Trophy winner will be announced on December 10, 2016, at 8 PM in New York City, and Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson is the only player that will get a certain invite. However, Watson has more than played his way into the conversation. Full Story » |

Watson has always been better. I would choose Watson over any QB in the country. I think if Watson puts up big numbers on VT this Saturday i think he locks it in. #DW4HEISMAN

I agree. If DW4 goes big this Saturday against VaTech I think he gets it! Just one motivating factor behind Clemson's big win. The Hokies are pretty good but the Tigers are spectacular.

Jameis Winston and Johnny Manziel say hello
Sure, that mission statement sounds great and all. But it really doesn't mean anything. The Heisman Trophy has turned into the media darling award, and the winner has basically been determined before the month of November.
The thing is, Watson deserved it last year and should have won it last year. However, due to the media's push of "the year of the running back," they were determined to give the award to Leonard fournette halfway through the season, and quickly changed to Derek Henry Once it became clear that LSU was overrated. It didn't matter that he averaged a pedestrian 4. whatever yards per carry and just carried the ball 30 or more times a game. The media spin was that he "broke the SEC rushing record" and they completely ignored the fact that DeShaun became the first player ever to throw for 4000 yards and rushed for 1000 yards in the same season.
Unfortunately, Lamar Jackson had the Heisman wrapped up as soon as they ran through FSU. Sad but true

Oh I believe you bc I have witnessed everything you're saying and not just once. CJ Spiller says hello all!!! When I hear someone say he is a Heisman trophy winner, that don't mean Jack Sh!t to me other than the media must have praised him....

You are exactly right. I have felt the same way. DW4 is most deserving of what the Heisman "should" stand for.

I don't know if DW4 will be able to win it....but I appreciate Coach Dabo fighting for him. He deserved it last year and everyone realized it after the national championship game.
I will keep my fingers crossed that DW4 has such a great ACC Championship game that he can't be denied.

Some more considerations...
1. Lamar Jackson has trended downward as we hit Championship November. He peaked against FSU, was strong through mid-October, and has been trending downward ever since nose diving the last two weeks. A Heisman quality QB does not trend down during the grind season - they trend up like DW4.
2. Lamar Jackson (and Louisville) has beaten 1 team with a winning record... Let that sink in for a moment. Other than FSU, Louisville has feasted on lessor competition (3 teams with even records, 5 teams with losing records) so it is no wonder Jackson put up crazy highlight reel runs against these teams. Other than FSU, Louisville lost every time they played a team with a winning record. Heisman quality QB's find ways to win - Lamar Jackson can't seem to beat teams with a pulse - definitely not the sign of a Heisman quality QB.
3. Jackson is a 57% passer.... Essentially you can flip a coin and almost have as much accuracy as to whether Lamar Jackson will complete a pass or not. I don't know if there has ever been a Heisman QB with this low of a pass completion percentage.
4. DW4 is a winner and exhibits the qualities of a Heisman QB. DW4 has led his team to 11 victories against stiffer competition. He has beaten 5 teams with a winning record (3 of which ranked), 4 teams with even records, and 2 teams with losing records. DW4 knows how to lead a team to victory and is playing his best football during the grind season - exactly what a Heisman quality QB does.

This! I just hope the voters pay attention to the facts. Biggest problem is that so many of the voters come from other conferences, and that creates the bias that exists in the voting.

Excellent points! And, who do you think makes it to the NFL, a great pocket passer like DW4 or a scrambler who completes little more than half his passes? Jackson will get destroyed trying to run away from NFL defenses.

I think Clemson is going to win this game by 21 points and Watson should be almost a definite lock after we run the score up and yards on vtech defense.

I agree with all the above, but don't be surprised if Michigan's Jabrill Peppers gets it. Without a clear media favorite, the Midwest vote is apt to win out over a divided voter base.
