Probably necessary the way they've added games to the schedule over the last several years.

Going from 12 to 15 in basketball seems marginal since those last few guys aren't really in your rotation anyway, but 85 to 105 in football is really big and 12.7 to 34 in baseball is HUGE. Gonna be really interesting to see how it impacts baseball recruiting where guys no longer have to worry about partial scholarships, loans, out of state tuition, etc. and they can just go where they want to go.

Where is all the money coming from to cover these? With NIA only the ones with most money will be able to complete.

Back to the old days when the power schools could stockpile scholly players. Really sucks for the less relevant schools. We will never see competitive sports again

How much will some schools pay a player to ride the bench just to keep them away from another school?

Smaller schools with tighter budgets will struggle as this will put pressure on them financially.

glad to see it for baseball but don't think football needs it.I remember when Bear would sign players to keep other teams from getting them.

the football increase is probably so those who jumped schools and couldn't find interest have a few more landing places. What are the title 9 implications of this I wonder?

It important to note this is roster limits. It’s similar to the equivalency method in that schools can decide to do partial scholarships (as compared to headcount requirements). I suspect this will help the rich get richer as the D1 G6 conferences are going to struggle to pay for these extra costs and pay for the revenue sharing. It will be interesting if IPTAY will be able to fully fund baseball and softball to the roster limits.

I understand the reason for increasing the numbers. Question is...
Jul 24, 2024, 4:58 PM
|
|
.... how are they going to pay all of these athletes?
Are non-revenue sports going to be cut?
Not talking about Clemson, per se. I'm think more of G5 level schools.

With the CFP and select bowl games, while the G5 & FCS probably merge into some sort of hybrid w/ a NCAA-sponsored playoff & some of the lesser bowl games become supplemental postseason games (pretty much how D2 & D3 do postseason).

So with football going up to 105 scholarships maybe Clemson can finally start signing full classes every year instead just every 3 to 4 years. Since Clemson doesn’t run players off like the majority of SEC schools do they have been forced to sign small classes while these SEC schools sign a full class every year. There is no excuse for Clemson to continue to sign these small recruiting classes any longer.
