One of my young'uns is taking a job in downtown Portland (2 days/week) in the city 3 days remote. As they explore living options other than Portland proper, they have looked at Gresham or Hillsboro on either end of the Blue rail line. Also looking at Vancouver WA (no state tax). No kids and spouse works for Amazon so they are flexible. Budget to buy would be $500K so that limits options.

Would appreciate thoughts on this. TIA

Wouldn't Portland have an Autonomous Zone where humans aren't oppressed and are allowed to live and thrive for free??
That $500K could be used to help the unhoused. Think big picture.
