Rob a bank. Take the money and move out of town.
4 years later the NCAA will come and arrest the people living in the house you were living in when you robbed the bank and sentence them to 3 years in jail.

Jim Harbaugh and the players on the team have reaped the reward.
3 or 4 years from now, the NCAA will come to the coach and players on the Michigan team and put them on probation for what Jim Harbaugh and his staff did. Those who actually benefitted from the cheating will pay no penalty. Those who are at Michigan 3 or 4 years later will pay for the cheating that they had nothing to do with.
And the NCAA will pat themselves on the back for being so tough on those who cheat.

Just stop. Not 1 single player on the Michigan team did anything wrong and talking about something they had no part in is just ridiculous. Michigan dominated football this year because they were the best team, not because anyone cheated. The players will get their rings and deserve them for being one of the best teams ever and having maybe the best defense ever.

At the same time ESPN blatantly praises the cheating and cashes the check.

Yea but they get caught cheating the same year they go undefeated and win a natty. For the first time since a shared natty in 1997. Coincidence? Just saying. And this isn’t cheating like before NIL where players were given money. That had no bearing on how a player played on the field. But spying on your opponent clearly gives you an on-field advantage. It’s just an all-around hard pill to swallow.

You are 100% nuts
How do you give Michigan a free pass?
Because the players didn't break the rules?
Knowing what play an opposing offense is going to run is a huge advantage.
And the only reason they have half those players is because they were winning games they shouldn’t have been winning.

Bret you're not wrong but what do you expect the NCAA to do to coaches and players who are years removed from the violations?

How about suspending the coach for the playoffs this year instead of regular season games? You know, some games just mean more.

Michigan did NOT just win the national championship. The official books say the did, but the official books are wrong!!
I'm being facetious. Your point is actually spot on . . . I'm just refusing to recognize Michigan's "championship". The more we outright refuse to recognize illegitimate stuff, the more the justified taboo sticks.

Maybe they should finetheshit out of Michigan on top of the probation - so that the athletic department that benefitted has to pay a real price.

Nope, it is Michigan. Michigan will follow the UNCheat play (after 20 plus years of athletic and academic cheating) -- just pay-off the NCAA to get a minor slap on the risk.
Whatever happened to Kansas (and Duke) after their buying basketball players?? Nothing. (Zion Williamson was going to play for Clemson until Coach K's bag man rolled down to Spartanburg.)

You just saw a great football team win and you're still worried about stealing signs...get a life,,Harbaugh has promised to give them all back...what a moralist...those signs are in the public Domaine if you don't want them stolen don't give signs...as a baseball player 50 years ago we were stealing signs off the opposing catchers...we almost got arrested! You probably think the Japs should have won ww2 cause we stole JN6!

in your example.
They tell the landlord that the $3000 gas stove that was bought with stolen money doesn't really exist. The new tenants see it every day, use it.. but the NCAA doesn't recognize it as an official stove.
The new tenants enjoy the stove. If the NCCAA decides to turn the gas off so they can't use the stove, the tenants just jump in the Zillow portal and move to another house.
BUT let's not take the tenants decision out of the equation either. YOU move into a house that had 42 murders and start seeing ghosts.. that's on you. Do more research, get a better real estate agent. Don't get fooled by shinny, $3000 stoves.

If only the NCAA held schools accountable for their actions. Its amazing the time Harbaugh was suspended for the actions of his program, but yet they let them play for a Natty and win said Natty. Incredible.

It’s an archaic form of punishment that served a purpose 30-50 years ago when coaches stayed at schools for a couple decades and built a cheating operation designed to benefit for 5-7 years. The NCAA could take their time, gather evidence against boosters who would always be supporting that school, and hammer an entire fan base for being complicit. As far as I’m concerned once players can make millions there simply is no use for the NCAA as a governing body at all.

Because of Harbaugh and Michigans actions, 3 years from now the NCAA will egg Reggie Bush’s house.

NCAA gave SMU death penalty years ago when they admitted they had done it...ruined their program for 20 years. And the team that reported them continued to by players in Texas even to this day...I suspect OSU is jealous of Michigan just as UT was of SMU!...NCAA has always practiced selective enfourcement...Dickerson & James were bait!

were not aware of the cheating. They just run the plays that they are given, and if a coach used the play based on signs stolen from the other side (based on previous game time videos) then it is cheating. What Connor Stalions did was cheating. Did Harbaugh not know why Stalions was on his staff? Even if they did not use one single bit of information, it is still cheating. Should bank robbers be prosecuted and jailed if they walk out of the bank with no money ........ same same in my book!
