ACC/NCAA tourneys (they had finished 12th in the conference I think). I suspect the NCState AD recognized that run as a fluke.

He had a poor record at NC State. True his team got hot at the ACC tournament which allowed this hot team into the dance. But it is not some indication for excellence.
