There were like 50 million guns in the US in 1950. There are nearly 500 million guns in the US now.
The population has only doubled since 1950. It isn't an increase in mental illness. It's an increase in access.

before the GCA, you didn't even need a background check, you just went to a gun show, store and paid for whatever gun you could get your hands on that wasn't regulated by the NFA. And if it was regulated, you paid your 200 dollars then and still picked it up same day. After Columbine is when things changed.. btw the assault weapons ban was in place during Columbine and several other mass shootings. Let's not forget that gun laws don't do ####..

Americans have loved guns since its' inception. This problem only started about 15-20 years ago. When I was in high school guys displayed their hunting rifles on a gun rack in their truck. Guns are not the problem. This is a societal problem.

"Defund the police" is merely a tired political trope used to stir up distrust. Today the actual defund the police movement is a GOP led effort to gut federal law enforcement in order to delegitimize current investigations against some of their own.

If so, then you would know that the committee you referenced questioned Twitter personnel who denied accusations that the FBI interfered in content and contributor decisions they made.
I generally look at accusations in general as potential confessions first, especially when they're in the political realm, then allow the light of day found in investigations, questions, and answers under oath, to determine their viability from there.

if you're not sure about watching then maybe don't. It is sensitive and there is graphic footage.
In the video you'll see one of the girls that was killed lying on the floor in the hallway as they move through the building. You'll also see the shooter shot multiple times and then their body, dead on the floor as they stand over her.
With that said, it's an absolutely undeniable first hand look at what police are facing in a dire situation. You almost feel like you're the person going through the building given the footage (which may be another reason not to watch it for some).

I am also a gun owner, hunter and CWP holder and agree with your earlier statement that certain types of weapons used by police and the military should not be available to the general public. The shooter was a victim of mental illness, that's a fact, and I feel terrible for her family. They are victims too.
That in no way, shape or form justifies or excuses her actions. What she did was evil, and thank God these cops did their jobs so effectively, and put and end to this tragic situation. That should be the expectation for anybody who carries out such a horrific, evil act.

we decide to step over that bridge is the moment we can begin to deal with all this and stop this charade. When we bring up gun control then we are just kicking the can to the next tragedy.
WE need to deal with the deeper problem which is the depression and what causes it (ie everyone is beyond medicated these days from age 6). We might want to encourage a strong nuclear family unit and not encourage single mother-hood and hook up culture as our normal lifestyle. We might want to stop weaponizing these tragedies for political gain and votes. WE might want to hold big pharma accountable for pushing whatever the last mood altering drug is as we have people's brains malfunctioning at alarming rate these days.

Truly amazing and heroic action by those officers. Dispatched the shooter within around 3.5 minutes of arrival on scene. I wish I could make every "defund the police" bozo sit there and watch the entire thing.

I remember a Sheriff a few years ago was asked why his officers shot the perp 67 times, and he looked them dead in the face and said we would have shot him more but the officers ran out of bullets. They deemed him still a threat so continued shooting. That is the mindset you have to have in order to put an end to the threat. If you stop reacting and take time to assess you may not end your shift to go home. GOD bless our first responders, our firemen, our service members and shame on any politician who questions their actions in a active situation!

Completely different vs Uvalde. If they had responded like Uvalde, many more would have died. These guys pushed in on a mission, good job. These guys took out the threat in 14min from first 911 call. The Uvalde shooting was over an hour. 4-5cops sat on one hallway listening to shots killing people, one cop holding everyone back saying they needed to wait on the Sargent or Captain or whoever? But they literally sat inside hearing shots going off and never forged towards the shooting.
These TN cops saved lives by being proactive, no doubt!

My Daughter is 7 and goes to a private school with an armed security guard. The guard was hired at the beginning of this year after the situation in Uvalde last year.
In late January, My wife and I both received text messages from the school that there was no emergency on campus, that a student sent a text to another student saying that there was an active shooter on campus. The text ended with "THERE IS NOT AN ACTIVE SHOOTER".
Even still, seeing those words "ACTIVE SHOOTER" sent chills down my spine and my throat went to my stomach. It sickened me then and it still sickens me. A parent's worst nightmare.

There was a gender ideology therapist on one of Jordan Peterson's podcasts recently that said herself that the dominate amount of global instances of transgender or gender ideology cases are primarily concentrated in the United States and Primarily among white people. Obviously there are cases spread throughout other demographics but the overwhelming majority was among white americans. Chew on that for a bit.
WE have so much excess, opportunity, luxuries in this country yet we are the most dissatisfied and miserable. There's a message in there somewhere.

not the posting of the video. We know it's a terrible, horrific scene. Making things like that available for viewing should be a decision that the parents of victims or survivors get to make. I could never begin to imagine the pain those folks are going through. Having vivid recollections like this bounding all over the world now and going forward can only make that pain worse.

I disagree and here is why: I think it's important that as a society, we SEE this type of thing and take stock of it. It's shocking. It's horrifying. The sheer evil of a deranged individual shooting children and unarmed adults is simply mind-boggling.
Then and only then, IMO, can we even begin to get a grip on the epidemic and culture of violence in this country. How many people are shot and killed in Chicago each week? We never even think about it because we've become de-sensitized to it. We never hear about the PTSD and other psychological trauma that our law enforcement and first responders suffer in having to deal with all of this violence.

I agree with much of that reasoning, but would still say only after victims' families or survivors have okay'd it for release like this. Maybe they have here already. Showing it two days later or two months later would have the same impact you are after I would think. I just say give families time to come to terms with something like this and allow for its release.

thought the first responders did an excellent job.
Response time was fast. Initial entry was quick and organized. Stacks were good, communication was good, time to contact was good. Under the circumstances the PD did an excellent job minimizing additional casualties.
Sad that it happened, but good response by Nashville PD.
If ever there was a case to justify more funds for policing, this is it.
