9

Clemson is the 9 seed. There will be 54 hole strokeplay today and tomorrow. Then matchplay Friday and Saturday. The tournament will have live feeds on accn of tomorrow's round and matchplay. Scoring is on golfstats. Link below.

Our lineup:
Isabella Rawl
Melena Barrientos
Chloe Holder
Sydney Roberts
Aitana Tuesta (the freshman)

A bit surprised Juliette Demeaux isn't playing. Must have been a dogfight for the 5th spot.

We've played 1-4 holes and have started with disaster. We're currently at +7. Chloe is the only one that hasn't bogeyed. Isabella carded a triple on the first hole and the freshman nerves are showing. She's bogeyed 3 of the first 4. The team has yet to make birdie.

Stanford is the leader at -5. Good news is we just started. Plenty of holes obviously.

Would love to get your thoughts on where our women's (and men's) golf teams

are right now. I follow but don't have a feel for where we sit in the grand scheme of things (other than the rankings). We didn't have an invite to the ANWA (Coots had 3). Eila Galitsky for the chickens looks to be a future superstar (felt yucky typing that).

Good question. We talked about it at the beginning of spring golf. I'd asked how we compare facilities wise. The conclusion from the experts is our facilities and practice areas, while could use some updates, they're still comparable to other top programs.

Recruiting. Penley could recruit average rated talent and somehow develop them into alpha dogs. Hester seems to do that also. Women's golf moreso than men really have to recruit international. Hester has embraced that. Her 2 alphas graduated last year, so, like softball, we knew it'd be some level of drop. Hester continues to recruit at a high level.

Like every sport, NIL is being used to attract talent. Imo that's hurting in the men's recruiting more. Larry always had two alphas that were consistent. The last 3 years, we've been lacking that. So the short answer is we don't seem to be attractive to the top 50-100 juniors. I'd love to get skeeta56 opinion.

North Carolina Conference because almost every championship is played in the state of NC.

Seriously? We had clawed our way to 5th and our leader Melena was -1 then took a 9 on the par 3. Kaboom 💣 . Keep hoping it's a typo but apparently not. Wow.

Stanford, Arkansas, FSU, Texas, and Chickens are the top 5 in some order. Depending on polls. They've sort of swapped all year.

Latest we're 39th, which is 9th best in acc. SMU is ranked higher than us but having a worse tournament than us too.

One more round to make matchplay. Top 8.

Anything can happen in match play, but we just have to start playing better to have any kind of chance.

Yeah, we don't have a chance at matchplay. Not sure why I thought it was going to 8 teams this year but it's the top 6. My sincere apologies!

Sydney has started us off with a snowman on the par 5 10th. That's kinda been the norm.

We've actually played well enough to be in contention for the matches but the few "others" that we had killed our mojo. Still trying to wrap my head around how Melena made 9 on the par 3 16th. Bogey wouldn't have hurt us. Ended up costing us 5 net shots on the one hole. Likewise, Isabella with the triple to start... hold to a bogey and that's 2 more net.

So that's 2 holes out of 200 and we'd be starting today in 5th with a great chance at matchplay. Oh well, save the good stuff for the regional. We'll get a tough draw this year.

Mystery solved

Sydney mom posted a video of her putting for a birdie and she 5 putted. Same thing happened yesterday with Melena and the 9 on the par 3. The pin placement on some holes with the slope and stemp severe was ridiculous.

Everyone played the same course but sometimes you're just the unfortunate recipient of bad luck. Shame on the acc. They really need to be called out. Tough is one thing. Tricky putt putt golf is another.

If you looked through the teams, you'll see some bizarre scores.

Good luck in the regionals ladies.

Really hate to say this but the ladies will not be in regionals due to the .500 rule. Same with men unless they win conference.

Honestly, tough for both teams because they are both regional teams that deserve postseason. But due to maybe have to hard of schedules they are both below .500
