My thoughts on ACC expansion.

Basing this on David Hood's post about ACC looking to expand further, to replace FSU, Clemson, UNC and whoever else leaves.
Invite Wazzou, OR ST, San Diego State and Boise State (If they think 4 are leaving the ACC.)
That would set up a nice "Western Division" of the "All Coast Conference." (Maybe they should invite USF and South Alabama so they would have the Gulf Coast covered, but I digress.)
They could set a schedule where a football team travels coast to coast no more than once per year. The "Olympic Sports" could travel 0 or 1 times per year. (A lot of golf teams already travel once a year coast to coast. You could possibly set up a conference "mini-tourney" with two east coast and two west coast teams playing so each school could have 3 conference games with only one trip across the country for sports such as tennis and volleyball. You could set up a swim meet with similar to golf - a meet with several teams competing.
I knows nothing. I'm speaking as nothing more than an ignorant fan.

Nothing wrong with the 14 team, plus 1, ACC as it is now.

Let’s face it. Adding Cal and Stanford was dumb and dumber. At least SMU is in the Dallas area and is better know in our area and a direct flight out of Charlotte NC.

Why is he an idiot? You said nothing about time zones or distance. You strongly implied that only SMU could be reached with a direct flight from CLT. Patently wrong.
Not to belabor the obvious, but the expansion had nothing whatsoever to do with your personal convenience, and everything to do with the long game of conference expansions. Ideal? No, but it is serving its purpose.

There aren't any brands they can get that deliver the academics they demand and add value. I don't think the West Coast teams work out long term. ACC will survive as a group of five type league.

Been saying all along -- if the ACC were smart, they'd go ahead and grab a few more west coast teams (P2 and maybe a few more to give SMU a pod that makes sense).

Just stop it. ACC should be Atlantic coast. Not west coast and Texas. If Clemson leaves so be it. Florida state has been great for the conference and if both leave I am good for it. But the ACC has totally screwed up. I don’t want to watch standford and Clemson play in California. Period. I’ll consider it my bye week and just go do something else

At that point I won't care about the ACC. Just thinking about what the commissioner of the ACC should be thinking. "When our major teams leave, what can we do to survive?"

I could see an All Coast Conference right up that alley. I do think once the first wave starts the ACC will lose 7 current programs total, so vetting those extras now is a smart move.
West Stanford Cal SMU Or State Wa State Boise St San Diego St. Fresno St.
East Duke Cuse BC Pitt Wake NC State Va Tech USF
FSU and Clem to SEC
UNC, Ga Tech, UVA, and Miami to B1G
Louisville to Big XII, with Memphis.

That's cool but travel really isn't a big deal except for volleyball, baseball and softball. The rowing team went to a meet in Oregon last spring. Basketball has tournaments and teams in holiday tournaments from all over the country. Play 2 games a week average. You just schedule two West coast teams in same week, then West coast comes east for 2 weeks. Volleyball would have to schedule like basketball. Even 2 fb trips out west ain't nothing. ND does it all the time.
Nowadays remote learning is wired into the kids. The hard ones are baseball and softball where you play 4 times a week, occasionally 5 times. But the easy solution there is you eliminate the start of season round Robin tournaments and replace those with conference teams.
Fact is, the B1G and sec have plans. Even the expansion of the b12. All conferences will have to eliminate matchups between ooc competition. So in that aspect, it will be ashamed to lose those... but with the other conferences expansion, those are lost too.
Jmho, in the long-term the TV revenue will realize matchups were more important than conference affiliated games and this will backfire. You'll end up with 64 teams like Dabo has already said. Then the season pretty much becomes a season long playoff.

have completely given over to King George.
We're headed for a "Premier League" because the dolts have neither a sense of history anymore, nor the true creativity to come up with better solutions.
I personally hope the sport collapses in on itself basically like NASCAR.

....but very slight. ESPN is going to be exposed for making these huge promises they can't deliver. In a declining market, how can they project billion dollar payouts to Vanderbilt, Missouri, and the Coots? They can't.
