suggested a silent treatment for a big game and you would have thought the world had ended. Tigernet and the radio was eat up with people who hated it. Today, everyone likes it and I like it too.
It is like trying to capture lightening in a bottle. Sometimes Death Valley being loud is spontaneous like in 1980 vs VPI and in 2005 vs Miami--it just happens. Other times--1977 ND it was planned--it was a focused noise. I remember reading somewhere where the Irish was amazed at Clemson's "leather throated fans."

And what point does being loud before the game serve?

Louisville fans will just leave saying Clemson has no pregame atmosphere. Let's be loud from beggining to end, not use some silly gimmick

I voted against it in your poll but not because I don't think it would be a good idea. I think it would be great if it could be pulled off. But when the other team knows it's coming, it loses its effectiveness.

Does that mean we shouldn't do that anymore? No! It is still effective whether they know it is coming or not.

I don't recall anyone saying anything this stupid about crowd noise in the Valley in a lonnnng time. Everyone else has learned better.
But when this chucklehead compares us to Syracuse ... and compares us unfavorably ... it just sort of begs for a special response.
It's not that your idea was bad, just out of time.

This was a verbal slap at our fans. It's up to us to respond.

his comment in totally different that what Patrino has said. NC state coach knew he had to deal with the crowd noise. Patrino said he doesn’t expect Death Valley to be any louder than the Carrier Dome at Syracuse was when the Cardinals played at Syracuse last Friday.
