I must say times have changed here. Years ago I

Oct 7, 2014, 1:07 PM

suggested a silent treatment for a big game and you would have thought the world had ended. Tigernet and the radio was eat up with people who hated it. Today, everyone likes it and I like it too.

It is like trying to capture lightening in a bottle. Sometimes Death Valley being loud is spontaneous like in 1980 vs VPI and in 2005 vs Miami--it just happens. Other times--1977 ND it was planned--it was a focused noise. I remember reading somewhere where the Irish was amazed at Clemson's "leather throated fans."

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once the team starts dowm the Hill, the noise should be unrelenting and deafening until the game clock hits 00:00.

And what point does being loud before the game serve?

Oct 7, 2014, 1:53 PM [ in reply to A good number of students hate it, but they refuse to ]

Louisville fans will just leave saying Clemson has no pregame atmosphere. Let's be loud from beggining to end, not use some silly gimmick

GO TIGERS

lol..if the silent treatment happens, I am pretty sure that is not what they would say about pregame.

I voted against it in your poll but not because I don't think it would be a good idea. I think it would be great if it could be pulled off. But when the other team knows it's coming, it loses its effectiveness.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

opponents know Clemson fans are gonna be loud

Oct 7, 2014, 1:22 PM

Does that mean we shouldn't do that anymore?
No! It is still effective whether they know it is coming or not.

Notre Dame knew it was coming, but it still worked. They may know it is coming, but they DON"T know how loud it can be

Missed a great game. The silent treatment worked to perfection. When the gun sounded the ears began bleeding! The reaction by ND on the sidelines was great!

It just needed a catalyst....

Oct 7, 2014, 1:19 PM

I don't recall anyone saying anything this stupid about crowd noise in the Valley in a lonnnng time. Everyone else has learned better.

But when this chucklehead compares us to Syracuse ... and compares us unfavorably ... it just sort of begs for a special response.

It's not that your idea was bad, just out of time.

his comment in totally different that what Patrino has said. NC state coach knew he had to deal with the crowd noise. Patrino said he doesn’t expect Death Valley to be any louder than the Carrier Dome at Syracuse was when the Cardinals played at Syracuse last Friday.

Comments are not even close
