My guess at why DJ is still the starter

My only guess at why DJ is still the starter is the when Dabo recruited him, he made a promise to him.
Not sure if that was that he would be the #1, or he would get to the nfl or what.
Because that is the only thing I can think of. And Dabo does not back down from a promise.
2 more games of the DJ era… we can only hope.

We don't know that he's better either. If you think that Dabo is keeping Trevor Lawrence, Part II on the bench just because Dabo is stubborn, then I doubt your rationality.

I don’t think anyone believes Watson/Lawrence is sitting in the sideline. But given them enormous talent gap between DJ and those two, you have to wonder if there is something, anything even a little better than DJ.
Hell, I wonder if Hunter is not at least slightly better than 28% completion. Maybe a former QB in the crowd? Something!

This idea that we are delusional fans that think Cade is the second coming of TL is absolutely false.
DJ is absolutely the worst player we've had under center since... you tell me. Cole Stoudt? Kyle Parker? Cullen Harper? DJU had better tools than all of them but wasn't as good a player. And those weren't 5-star recruits.

Last year I thought it was the reason.
Not this year. My only guess is that CDS won’t back down on a promise to him.

No, I don't think he's that bad, but I don't think he's a guy who can come in and start right away. I think he is one of these guys who takes a little time to develop.
In my opinion, I think the coaches were hoping Klubnik would come in and win the job, but he didn't, so they had to make the most out of Uiagalelei.

I’d say he wasn’t. For every bad play Cade had you can point to a worse play from DJ, yet they kept him in.

If he did, Dabo was lying all of those times when he said that starters have to earn it in practice.
I don’t think Dabo is a liar.
I am confident that DJ is our best quarterback who the coaches feel gives us the best chance to win.

There’s nothing to indicate any weird promises have ever been made to recruits.
Jamie Harper getting the first carry of the season under Bowden - which he promptly fumbled to Alabama. Now THAT was a stupid promise to make to a recruit. But we haven’t heard stories like that under the Swinney era
