But instead he passed away in 1989. I had just turned 26. Hard to believe he’s been gone that long. He was a very simple man and remains one of the most practical, sensible people I have ever known. I really wish my kids could have known him. Can’t imagine what he would think of the world today. I still miss him every day. Happy heavenly birthday, Daddy.

Sorry you lost him so early. I couldn’t imagine where my family would be without my fathers support. He’s really propped up my brothers children and been a calm steady hand to guide them. Birthdays of giant loved ones can be tough. Focus on the good memories.

I have all the same feelings as you. MY dad has been gone for years. Flew on combat missions and later came back and got a solo pilots license. His grave is very near our local airport and he picked it because of his love of avation.

I was just 26 when my dad died. I'm looking forward to seeing him in heaven, so that I can thank him for being such a good dad. I never thanked him enough while living.

I got a great one as well. Still teaching me about the things that will matter in the end. I do still tell him I love him. He was always saddened by the fact his dad never did.

Thank you. Much simpler times. We didn’t have much, but we didn’t know any better so we had all we needed or wanted.

I’m lucky enough to still have my father, but I know the time is approaching quickly.

Happy birthday sir. You raised a good son. What better epitaph could a father have?

Everyone should be so fortunate - I know a 20 year old who has actually said that he hasn’t had such a figure to learn from….. and his dad is still around.

Lost mine the day after Christmas 2001 was 90 years old then but was still a man’s man, graduated from Clemson in 1933 was alt captain of the 33 team. He’s who got me interested in Clemson as a kid and we still have his season tickets since he joined IPTAY when it was started. Dang I miss him every day, especially when I see all my grandkids and how much he would love being a figure in their life like he was my kids….A mans man if I’ve ever met one love ya pops.

Yea, I know a young man like that too. His parents got divorced and his dad isn’t in his life at all. Fortunately, his mother recognized it and asked an older family friend to help. The older man has mentored him ever since and he has turned into a fine young man. I really feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t have a father or at least a father figure in their lives. It matters.
