Music Cross Pollenation: In my first job in the Chemical

Industry, I was a young single man, and lived for a couple of years in a tiny apartment block directly across from what then was Summerville High School, in Summerville, South Carolina. Since I was young and single, having only myself to spend my money on, I naturally owned a KILLER stereo system for the time. And I played it, a lot, LOUDLY. All the apartments were single story, three unit clusters. A one bedroom, two bedroom, and three bedroom in each cluster.
Naturally, I picked the three bedroom, not because I needed the space, but because it was on an end, with a neighbor only on one side. (So were the ones, but they were all taken before I got there.) So, I would only have one set of neighbors asking me to turn the music down. But, I lucked out. A very nice young black couple were my neighbors. One day, the guy caught me as I was getting home and asked me, "Man, who does that groove that we hear you playing just about every day?"
Now, what made me think of this was the post about the halftime entertainment at the Orange Bowl, and reminiscing about Fleetwood Mac and Jefferson Starship. As it so happened, at the time, I had recently bought the Jefferson Starship album "Earth", and LOVED the lead in song off that record, "Love Too Good". I put it on, and he said, THAT'S IT! He became a Starship fan at that point, I do believe. I myself think that "Earth" was the best of the Marty Balin / Grace Slick led Jefferson Starship efforts. ""Runaway" and "Count on Me", in addition to "Love Too Good", are just like sweet honey to the ears.
Oh, in case someone wanted to know, my system of the time was:
Phase Linear 4000 Autocorrelation Preamplifier
Black paneled full graphic equalizer (Can't remember the brand for the life of me.)
Phase Linear 400 Power Amplifier (200 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms.)
Garrard turntable
Nikko FM Tuner
Pioneer belt drive high end cassette recorder
Ohm Acoustics Original Walsh Driver F model speakers. (Still to this day the most awesome-est sounding speakers overall I have ever heard. Maybe in a tie with a set of Dahlquist DQ-10's with an OHM subwoofer I once heard at an audiophile store. But, the "F's" didn't need a separate subwoofer to achieve their awesomeness.) Ohm F's were 5 ohm speakers, so the maffs says the Phase Linear could hit them with 321 watts per channel. Never did it, it would have shattered eardrums in the next county at anything approaching full power.
