Most important games this year

Aug 6, 2012, 11:18 PM

#1 FSU - This is a must win if Clemson wants to repeat as ACC champs. A loss in Tallahassee means the Tigers must run the table the rest of the way and that may still not be enough to secure the division. This Clemson team is good enough to win this game, and doing so puts Clemson in the driver's seat. We could even have a "head scratcher" and win the division.

#2- Auburn - This game of course has no conference implication, but a good start to the season will go a long way toward building momentum. Lest we forget the beatdown in Atlanta in 2008 which practically ended the Bowden era.

#3 - Wake Forest - Dabo has yet to exorcize the Thursday night demons for the Clemson program, and here is an opportunity. The Tigers need to go to Wake and beat down the Deacons on national TV. A loss to an outmanned Wake team would be "same old Clemson".

#4 - Just like Wake, this is a game Clemson should win, but hasn't in the past. This is a division game and BC will not be as bad as people think. Losing this game is inexcusable and Clemson needs to take care of business.

#5 - NC State - This game is worrisome in that NC State's strengths are our weaknesses. They are tough on both lines, and get FSU at Carter Finley. Beating us in Death Valley would make them a contender for the division, and we have to make sure that does not happen. Plus, we owe them one.

#6 - USuC - Beating the coots is nice, and a 4th straight loss would suck, but the fact is the game means little unless Clemson is in national championship contention, and I don't see that THIS year. Other that ribbing the janitor at work, the game is not tremendously important.

#7 - UMD - The only importance is it is a divisional game. If we lose to Edsel and his not very merry men, Dabo needs to be escorted to his car immediately after the game.

#8 - Ga Tech - I just hate 'em.

#9 - Va Tech - Conference game at home. Must win to remain an upper echelon ACC team.

#10 - Duke - If we lose this we need to change our mascot to a chicken.

Yeah but if we lose to them, we might as well quit football. In nice terms, they sorry.

There already is a team in S. Carolina where a Chicken is ..

2 of them, actually. I don't blame anyone for not knowing what the #### a chanticleer is.

COLLEGE: A three-year starter at strong safety for Clemson, finished his career with 234 tackles and 11 interceptions.

A Chanticleer is a Chicken?

Whats up this facination with Chickens in S. Carolina? Chickens are known to be not the most nobelest bird in he world.... but I do like chicken baked, fried, etc ... the other day I made "beer can chicken".... turned out really good!

I agree with the first three. Those are the ones I've had my eye on since the schedule came out. Those games could determine our season. vt could be important as well.

My only difference is in position.
I would have the Wake game second,USuC third and Auburn fourth.

Can we get back on topic Paula Deen?

You must not interact with many coots. If you did USuCk would be at worst #2. For me, it's F$U, USuCk, VT, AU, GT, BC, NCSU, Wake, UM, Duke. All of y'all need to untwist your panties about NC State. Last year's game was a fluke. I've lived in Raleigh for 12 years and have learned that when State fans have high expectations, expect them to win < 7 games. Plus, that team has marginal talent at best. They whipped us last year because we were flat and they had nothing to lose

I agree with FSU (the path to our repeat) but #2 for me is beating SCar. We just can't lose to them for a 4th time in a row, especially not in our house. Then I would go with Auburn, Wake, NC State, VT, GT, BC, MD and our two cupcakes... I mean three. :)
