More With Less

I think what frustrates me the most about the LSU loss (and other games we've lost in similar fashion) is that I see other teams doing more with less. We may not have all the top players and coaches in the country, but they're better than most. When I see teams with less talent on the roster and sidelines play with more determination and intensity than Clemson, that's what makes it difficult to accept a loss like this.

If our coaches can do a better job of making in-game adjustments, and we can have just a couple players emerge as leaders that can rally the players when things aren't going well (think Gaines Adams against Wake Forest), we have everything we need to make it a great year.

Go Tigers!!!

That's my thoughts exactly. If we can't make a real run and have a competent offense this year, then when?

It's probably going to be a while. Dabo ma win another NC before he retires, but it's not going to be this year, or next. I love him, and wouldn't trade him. But like you I have eyeballs and know our offense didn't look up to snuff.

We've been getting outcoached for a few years now, and until that's corrected we seem to be stuck in a time-loop.

True. Considering Cade is in his senior year, it leaves a really bad taste. I still remember the DJU time. Same old excuses were used to defend OL on this forum. I blamed the coaches. Their salaries are not peanuts. We, Clemson fans, deserve better results.

Well actually this team isn't as talented as the media has claimed. When you look at our championship teams this one doesn't compare. I ask this: what player on this team would you switch players from those teams? For instance; would you take Cade over Watson or Lawrence? Would you take Antonio Williams over Mike Williams or Tee Higgins? Peter Woods over Dexter Lawrence?

According to all of the recruiting services this team has top#5 talent which is above the #10 ranking we had when we were playing for and winning NC's.

The problem isn't talent, it's coaching and player development. We aren't as good at it as we used to be.

Talent has not been the main issues since 2019.

One can't always go by ratings according to recruiting services. Recruiting scouts can often mis-evaluate players resulting in over-inflated star-ratings.

Also, coaches may sometimes swing & miss recruiting players with high star ratings but not fitting their system well (Clemson has had an issue with that for a while). This will make it appear as if the star-ratings aren't translating to performance on the field.

At the QB position, a QB may be given 5 stars by recruiting scouts because he plays on a loaded team, particularly with an elite offensive line & WR group, at his respective high school, which helps his statistics. Thus, the star-rating here does not reflect his true quarterbacking skills.

I think Cade falls into that category. Westlake, the school where he was from, had a loaded team. I think Cade was truly only a 4-star at best all along and was never near the caliber of Watson or Lawrence.

If Cade had played for another team other than Clemson, his quarterbacking skills would've been the same as here or worse. Only teams where he would potentially have better stats than here would only be teams that have like top tier talent everywhere on offense (OL especially).

Would think having passing game and run game coordinators adjustments could be made or at least be more effective during games. Admittedly don't have complete knowledge of their responsibilities, but at this point it appears they're a waste of salaries.

If our offense would have shown the slightest amount of fight, I wouldn’t be so disappointed. They were non existent. I’ll bet some FCS teams could do more on offense against them than we did

Illinois looks better than us to me. Because we're the keystone cops on offense.
