Probably the reason they all are leaving. People like you who continue to bash our coach when we lose. Who in the hell wants to stay in this environment?
Our team can’t hit the side of a wall in a game and it’s always the coaches fault.
Everyone knows there ain’t no way in hell the AD is firing our coach after last year. Nor is he gonna fire him after finishing 3rd in the ACC- even if we stuck in both tournaments. You know it but yet you post this ####.

really dude, the ACC is so weak that finishing 3rd is no accomplishment. He has had 1 good run in 15 years and you think that justifies extending him? yall act like he made a final four or won it all last year, he made an elite 8. As fans we actually listened to the postgame comments from Chase and IAN and realize that something is bad wrong. stop defending him, he had his most talented team this year and couldnt escape the 1st round against power house Mcneese. Get your head out of the sand and realize that something is way off, evryone is leaving and you expect to be competitive with a whole new starting 5 that has never played together ? Nc State made a final 4 but realized they needed a better caoch and acted, while we jjust extend our clueless coach 6 more? we are the laughing stock right now. He is paid millions to motivate and prepare the team and failed miserably at both this year when it counted.

That “best in history” class just got cut by 1/3 and the top 150 recruit from the year before just left leaving us only two recruits of note over 2 years on the team. Now wait until I tell you what happened when Brownell was handed the actual best recruiting class in Clemson history…

to tell you he was completely overrated coming out of HS...No way was he actually talented enough to earn that 5th star or his HS AA status...He was an average ACC player, I said it hundreds of times

Recycle this nonsense. It was the highest ranked class in Clemson basketball history. Doesn’t matter how you spin it after the fact. There is a single commonality far more likely than the recruiters getting everything wrong but only about Clemson’s players. It’s that they were all coached by the same person. Brownell leaned on those guys because there were no recruits in 2010. But then Brownell failed to recruit meaningfully in 2011 or 2012 (11th and 10th in the conference). KJ McDaniel was the only meaningful recruit in a 3 year window. It’s one of the saddest things that happens that those guys get thrown under bus (there was no NIL then) to prop up a man who will make roughly $50 million off Clemson if he finishes his current contract - with nothing in the trophy case. Dabo took over a program in worse shape and won multiple ACC titles and a BCS game before he netted that much cash.

Oliver left us a complete mess, Dabo took over a program ranked in the Top 10 to start the season with an actual loaded recruiting class and multiple NFL players everywhere...Give me a break

Purnell did not leave us a “complete mess”. He left us with a great foundation but brought in zero recruits for 2010. Brownell didn’t just lose them he didn’t have any. I’ve acknowledged this in the past and it did create issues for future seasons. That was amplified greatly by the fact that Brownell recruited horribly for 2011 and 2012. Yes, as a program, basketball was in better shape in 2009 than football was in 2008. You lack the ability to evaluate multiple values. You engage in magical thinking like there is an invisible ceiling over Clemson basketball rather than results being directly related to actual decision making.

Purnell had the team in an ACC final. Bowden never did. So if the talent disparity was so great was Purnell just that much better of a coach. Before you answer, we know what happened at DePaul. We also know that regardless of Brownell failed not just out in 2010 (easily on Purnell) but in 2011 and 2012. I know we love to bash the admin and facilities, but if Purnell (who was not exactly a world beater in the bug picture) could recruit well enough amidst the mess why couldn’t Brownell?
