Clemson men's tennis played in the Carolinas regional at Duke this past weekend. Players from the NC and SC schools participated. Our whole team went and here is how each player did.

Players who started in the main draw

Noa Vukadin
R1: W 6-2 7-5 vs Logan Zapp, UNC
R2: W 6-1 6-3 vs Alex Degabriele, UNC-Wilmington
16: W 2-6 6-4 6-4 vs Jakub Katuch, NC State
QF: L 6-2 2-6 6-2 vs DK Suresh, Wake Forest

Made the quarterfinals which means he qualifies for NCAA nationals in November in Waco. Good win over Katuch before dropping a 3-setter to Wake's #1 Suresh.

Wissam Abderrahman
R1: W 7-5 6-2 vs Aleksandr Hudjec, Campbell
R2: W 6-1 6-2 vs Uddayvir Singh, Davidson
16: L 7-5 7-6(2) vs Sean Daryabeigi, South Carolina

Have to say Abderrahman's fall has not been great so far. 0-2 in Tulsa and now a loss to SC's #4 from last year. Don't like that loss.

Maxwell Smith
R1: L 6-2 7-5 vs Constantinos Djakouris, UNC
CS: W 6-1 3-6 (10-7) vs Lukas Steffen, UNC-Wilmington

Cools down from his hot run in Tulsa with a loss in Round 1 but a bounceback consolation win.

Romain Gales
R1: W 7-6(5) 6-4 vs Anthony Wright, UNC
R2: L 7-6(1) 6-1 vs Martin Borisiouk, NC State

Decent win over the UNC freshman who will be an important player for them this year. Lost to the likely Wolfpack #1.

Viktor Markov
R1: W 6-2 6-2 vs Jules Leroux, NC State
R2: L 6-4 3-6 6-1 vs DK Suresh, Wake Forest

Solid win in round 1, before a tough fought loss to Wake #1 Suresh who is a top 20 national player.

God Bless you T_I_P. Wonderful wrap on the tournament play. I think it's an excellent report overall and sounds like we're poised to take the next step.

I'm excited unless you tell me otherwise. I'll watch them. I'm learning more and more through your posts. Sounds like recruiting and development are trending up. Yes? No?

Thanks again!! Not only tennis but the info on ALL of our sports.

I think it is. I always warn to take fall results with a grain of salt

because I have seen players do great in fall and then not great in spring and vice versa. But It is good for seeing the level and I like that our players have been competing with lineup players for good top 25 teams from last year.

Specifically, Freshman Viktor Markov seems to be better than I expected and Noa Vukadin seems much improved from last year. Also Max Smith being a much better player now is big for the team. I have to point to development for that. Only mild concern is Wissam Abderrahman not having the best results this fall, as he is meant to take the reigns as our #1 this year.

Marko Mesarovic

QR2: W 6-0 6-1 vs Jack Dixon, Coastal Carolina
R1: W 6-2 6-4, Harry Thursfield, Wake Forest
R2: W 6-4 6-3, Joseph Wayand, UNC-Wilmington
16: L 6-3 6-4, Braden Schick, NC State

Nice run from the qualies with 4 straight set wins before falling to NC State's #1 or 2.

Stewart Aronson
QR1: W 6-4 6-4 vs Jack Deveney, Wofford
QR2: W 6-3 7-5 vs Jamieson Nathan, Wake Forest
R1: L 6-0 6-1 vs Lucas Pow, Wake Forest
CS: W 6-4 6-3 vs Ivan Dreycopp, UNC-Charlotte
CS: L 7-5 0-6 (10-6) vs Jelani Sarr, South Carolina

Lopsided loss to Wake's #6 (but likely will play higher this year) and gave Sarr (SC #5 player) a decent match in consolation.

Matt Pitts
QR1: L 2-6 7-5 6-4 vs Frederic Scholassman, UNC-Charlotte
CS: L 6-2 6-4 vs Matias Iturbe, UNC-Charlotte
