"I think I'm getting turf toe"
Not again. What is the deal with our star players getting turf toe..CJ, DA, and now (possibly) Sammy..
The very best thing he can do is rest. I know we are getting ready for the season, but the last thing we need is a season long nagging injury. He needs to rest, no drills. He's Sammy Watkins, so resting shouldn't put him too far behind. But we do NOT need a season long injury..

I don't want to panic just yet, but it is something to be concerned about.
Isn't that the same thing Spiller and Ellington had?

Yeah, saw it earlier.
he really doesn't seem like the type to be jokey, but you gotta wonder. i sure hope he isn't getting turf toe, that would suck so bad for this upcoming year.

ingrown toenail??? are you crazy??? ive had that plenty of times. they dont feel good whatsoever. and at certain times i could not wear a shoe at all. when you gotta get the cut out, haha, that takes a good lil while to heal. and that is clearly no shoe on. i got tired of having them and finally got the toenail taking off for good. and that was bout a good month before the shoe went back on.
im hoping it is neither. maybe just a lil bit of cramps or something like that. it probably (hopefully) might be a different type of cleats he has on and is not used to them.
im just hoping for the best that its nothing major at all. our Tigers are gonna be great this year and set us a bunch of records.

That sucks... It will be a season nagging thing (hope not)

How come our players are getting things?... Is it an issue with other elite players on other squads? I am wondering if our equipment (i.e. shoes, the way they wrap their foot,etc..) is causing this issue somehow.

Seriously, some investigating needs to be done. How frequently do other players get this injury at Clemson and mainly what position. How often does this happen at other universities? Is it the cleats, turf, certain drills, diet? Someone needs to figure this out. I don't want it to be the achilles of a great season.

Turf toe isn't something you think you "may be getting"
Jul 23, 2012, 8:02 PM

It's not like the flu where symptoms appear gradually over time. Turf toe is a sprain to the ligaments around the big toe joint. The most common symptom of turf toe is pain at the base of one big toe that started suddenly as a result of the injury. There may also be swelling. Sometimes when the injury occurs, a "pop" can be felt. Usually the entire joint is involved, and toe movement is limited. You don't think you may be getting turf toe. If you have it, you know it.

Non-scientific analysis:
Jul 23, 2012, 9:32 PM
|
|
1) Fast people get turf toe.
2) Clemson has/had some of the fastest athletes on the football team in the entire NCAA.
3) Therefore, a high percentage of Clemson football players get turf toe compared to other NCAA football programs.
