This is why the bowls are meaningless outside of the playoffs. Now you have teams that don’t have enough players to play in a bowl game. Via transfer portal.

The transfer portal is a disaster. It should completely be eliminated. No transfers to another team. You want to attend another college, great, transfer all you want, but your college athletic eligibility days are over. The team you commit to play for is the only team you will ever play for. So make sure you choose wisely. No hardship cases, no waivers, no nothing. Either that or go back to the old plan that if you transfer, you sit out a year and you lose all eligibility during that year to be on a athletic scholly and you will not take part in any team's sports programs in any manner. I am good with either. No waivers in either case.

The portal is killing college sports. It's a ### shame supposedly smart people running the chit show have allowed this to happen. Doesn't speak highly of their intellectual or ethics.

No wonder Dabo doesn't want anything to do with the portal. Seems like he may be the only one in the game with a lick of sense.

There is a very easy work-around to any NCAA rule that attempts to prevent a student athlete … during this time of the NIL … from transferring away from his initial school and transferring to another school to continue his participation in collegiate athletics.

All athletes go to college as walk-on players that get NIL compensation on the side to take care of tuition, room, board, etc. In this time of the NIL, the value of the college scholarship is small compared to the NIL money.

By being non-scholarship student athletes, the student athlete has the same flexibility as any non-athlete student to transfer to another college. The non-scholarship FB players that are walk-ons simply transfer to another school and walk on to that team. The other college’s NIL organization provides the NIL contract in advance, thus assuring their new ‘walk-on’ FB player all of the funding needed to continue paying for college and to maintain his villa at St. Simons Island.

Easy peasy.

Maybe you’re right idk…

But what I do know is I have enjoyed this season more than any other as a whole, not just when it comes to Clemson.

There is more parity than ever. Gone are the days where a handful of programs dominate the landscape.

NIL and the portal seem to be responsible for that.

Maybe the head coach could have waited a couple of weeks before announcing he was leaving…

If I were the teams playing in the playoff games next weekend, I would ask them if loser wanted to play in it. Some teams who lose might want that bowl experience.

That bowl game probably shouldn't exist anyway, but it still is a shame.
