Oxygen tank was my first thought but not one person has mentioned that on TV.

Oxygen tank or both rear mounted engine failure which would affect the tail rudders.

Because that would be speculation. The media, at least ostensibly, is supposed to deal in fact. IDK though, I kind of lost faith when they all acted like they had no idea why that health care CEO was killed in NYC.

So…you know oxygen accelerates and intensifies any fire, right? And an abundance of oxygen in a concentrated space can cause a fire to become explosive?
Do better before you try to be a prick.

That's basically what it is. Jet with a lot of fuel crashed.

It does look like a missile, however it's being reported as a Lear jet.
A cursory internet search says cruising speed is 500 mph, and max speed is mach 0.81. I have no idea how fast they are during climb from takeoff. They reported there was a low ceiling. and required instrument flying.
My father was a pilot trainer in WW II, he said some students just could not master flying by instruments alone. You can start doubting the instruments. It was one of the leading causes of washing out of pilot training. It's what caused JFK Jr's crash.
Just speculation. What a terrible week for aviation.

If they were flying IFR, then they had training. You cannot fly in IFR conditions without being IVF certified. Now, in some cases you can get special VFR conditions. That is when a pilot is allowed to fly VFR when conditions would call for IFR. That is what happened with Kobe Bryant's pilot.

Someone on FOX reported it was a pediatric patient on board. Makes it even more sad.

Evidently the company which opeates the aircraft confirmed six people on board including a pediatric patient, escort and four crew. Flight was headed to Missouri. Very sad.

I have not heard anything about casualties on the ground. I pray they were minimal, but I can't imagine there were not a bunch killed or seriously injured.

6700lbs is max fuel on that airplane, that’s right at 1000 gals Jet-A. KPNE-KSWB is about 2.5 hrs, maybe a little more with headwinds. That’s a very strange looking accident, doing a lawn dart right after T.O. My thoughts: 1- Horizontal Stab Actuator failure - it’s at least a 1 inch diameter jack screw that controls the pitch of the horizontal stab (the front half of the horizontal tail). If that fails, you’re done. The Alaska Airlines crash that went into the Pacific Ocean, was a horizontal stab actuator failure. 2. Pitch trim runaway (nose down). I’ve never seen it in the plane, I have seen it (multiple times in the simulator). I’ve never flown the LR55. I have flown LR-24, LR-24XR, LR-25, LR-35, LR-31A, LR-60, LR-45. Pitch trim runaway (nose down) in a LR-31A, in the simulator, requires every bit of strength that a strong man has, to keep the nose up. A 150lb weakling won’t be able to do it, neither will a woman. We landed from it in the SIM. I was right seat. Wrapped my hands around the yoke column and pulled back for everything I had. Capt did the rest. Hurt my back, which remained hurt for about a month.
Other thoughts: Q: Why be on an at least 38 year old jet? A: Cuz it’s cheap Q: Why be on an Air Ambulance Charter Aircraft from Mexico? A: Cuz it’s cheap. Q: Who’s making the decisions about what Air Ambulance Company is being used? A: The Insurance Company.
Aviation is one of those areas where doing it cheap equals doing it wrong.
