I think someone needs to tell Shipley. And even if they did I don’t think Shipley would accept it. He’d just keep running out first anyways.

Shipley can’t block either. They are both equally terrible at blocking.

right now, but I still see a really good Shipley running hard and getting it done. I love 'em both and like the way we use them, and would have no real problem if Mafah got more carries, I just don't see that he's "better" than Shipley, or has separated in any way.

I agree. Both very similar. Shipley has slightly better short area quickness but both are plodders. Wish one had break away speed.

but Mafah is just bigger and stronger, like a bull. Shipley runs extremely hard though, and both are hard to bing down. Neither has elite top end speed, but Shipley has a good burst. Both are good receivers. Both are going to play a lot regardless.

Hard to bring down? I love Ship, he runs hard but he gets arm toe tackled more than any RB I can remember at Clemson. He runs head down too much.

I don't know. Shipley needs a smaller hole and our oline isn't exactly opening up large holes.

No he's not. Shipley is the leading rusher on the team. Same as last year. This offensive line is just not very good. Mafah doesn't get these big runs consistently. I'm not knocking him, but you are hoping off one or two plays, and you can't do that.

Mafah has that average because of the run against Florida St.
Take today for example. Mafah has 8 carries for 43 yards, 5.4 per carry. His long run was 32 yards. The rest of the time, he had 7 carries for 11 yards, for 1.6 per carry.
Again, I'm not knocking Mafah. He's a good player. You are just looking at stats, and not the actual execution.

Shipley is the leading rusher because he gets the most carries. He has the lowest YPC of any of our top 6 running backs, though.

I don't know if he's better or not? Ship gives it all he's got every play and seldom gets tackled for loss.
His td was excellent as was the blocking on that play.

Such a terrible take. Shipley has 29 TDs from scrimmage in less than 2.5 seasons. That's more than Spiller had in 3 full seasons. Mafah has 10. Mafah has had a good two game stretch but before that Shipley better than him statistically in every way. I'm starting to notice a trend in the star players tnet tends to hate on. Shipley, Turner, Boulware, Muse.

I told my husband their freshmen year that I like Mafah better. I think he has the better chance to play in the NFL and is a better runner. Shipley has a lot of heart though and doesn’t give up. I give him a lot of credit for working hard and being a team player.

He is better. He is also more mature and handles being #2 behind a guy that is simply the favorite son. Marah, is the more physical back and seems to read his blocks better. More NFL potential. Shipley will transfer if he gets demoted. Mafah is the team guy. I'd be good with Mafah and Haynes!!

He is better Yards per carry so far. I was shouting this on the 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 during the Florida State game… hand it to your 230lb back. As far as #1 or #2 they both could be 1a/1b. It would be a tough call for sure. This year Mafah does seem to get the additional yards after contact more often

I'm in the minority. I'd rather see Haynes get some run as a compliment to both Mafah and Ship. I wouldn't bench them but Haynes is a different element we don't have out of the backfield with either one of those guys. They are hard runners. Neither is great in pass pro. I'd like a look at that 2 back set with Haynes being in there.

Haynes. The backs are good but are zero threat to beat a D to the edge this the middle is clogged. They know if they clog the middle and we do run outside that they can still get there to make a play. We might finally be stretching Ds a little bit vertically with better WR play but we are still squeezed horizontally and the screens aren’t spreading anyone out. He still makes mistakes but lucky to have the QB we do as the struggle would be greater without. Need more speed on O.

Depends. Mafah is slower to start and does not possess jump cut moves. Mafah has a tough time getting to edge. Mafah is not as good a receiver. He does possess positives. I like them both in. I actually would like a fullback who is a beast blocker. Would help out power game in short yardage.
