Loyality

Ultimately, Dabo’s loyalty has to be for graduating his players, preparing them for life after football, and not ONLY for winning. Past that, all bets are off. Loyalty does not extend to starting any player or retaining any coach on the staff. He, in my estimation, needs to be brutal and relentless in expecting nothing short of perfection, or near perfection from his staff and athletes. Student athletes can get a college degree and NIL benefits. Coaches can get hefty paychecks.
From my point of view three things seem apparent. 1st- Cade Klubnick needs to be benched. Who Dabo starts next game - I’ll leave to him. 2nd - the OC needs to be fired. Who Dabo puts in his place I’ll leave to him. 3rd - the WR coach needs to go. Who Dabo puts in his place I’ll leave to him.
Kirby Smart will ever only be a failure as a head coach under my microscope. He is dead last in graduating his players. That could change - but it won’t.
Dabo Swinney, however, has a good chance of being a continued success. He is number one in graduating his players. That could change. - but it won’t. He might slip a position or two - but he will continue to graduate a very high percentage of his players. He has proved he and a good staff can win championships.
As for the portal - that’s an X factor that I don’t have an opinion on. Way too complex a topic for me to understand. It gets tangled up in the loyalty to player factor.
So, rip me to shreds for this - I don’t care. I never read any replies

Dabo's job IS to win football games. If he is good at graduating players and if THAT is going to be his focus and what you measure him on, make him the Clemson University Athletic Academic Counselor and let's hire a coach whose job is to win football games.

Well we do know he started making astronomical money when he started astronomically winning.

The only people who care about graduation rates are fans of teams that suck. I don’t give a #### if any of them graduate. Dabo isn’t getting paid to make sure they graduate. He isn’t a professor. He is paid to win football games. Plain and simple.

Dabo uses our graduation rates, as well as his promise to make the recruit's
better players and most importantly, to make them better young men that are
prepared for life after football. Winning parents over to help win games.

I know what he does. And if that helped him land recruits and win, then more power to him. But players care more about winning, making the NFL, and NIL now.

I would not want a coach who turns a blind eye to his players conduct. Yes, Trevor E. didn’t play yesterday for his DUI offense but why was he dressed? I do believe that if he was needed, he would have played. I prefer that Debo’s players know that discipline is important. Even professional players have off field rules to follow knowing that they are a representative of their team.

First it was the relentless angst here that Kirby woudn't hold Etienne out of the game. As if somehow that was going to make a difference. Kirby follows the demands of the TNETers and suspends Etienne. Now you want to criticize Kirby for having Etienne dress out for the game. Etienne was never going to be needed for Georgia to win that game.

In our defense some of us probably did think it would matter. Even if we suspected it might happen in our heart of hearts, I think we were all still surprised to see the same complete lack of offense we’ve seen the last few years. And Trevor was dressed so who really knows what might have happened had the game stayed competitive.

Because football player graduation rates are not important to everyone

at a school we have witnessed college football turn into a cesspool. Sure there was always a few high profile kids getting a car or their parents got a new job but for the most part college football players were at school to get an education and play football. Not anymore, getting an education is not even a consideration for what seems like most players today. It’s about how much money can I get right now while playing college football and then how much can I make in the NFL. There are other contributing factors like big TV contracts from networks but once getting a college education became a non factor it turned into a money grab. It sucks.

These are adults. They are professional athletes now and are not real student-athletes in any sense of the word. His job is not to be a father to them to help them prepare "for life after football." You can get a good guidance counselor or life coach for a #### of a lot cheaper than $11 million a year.

He has one responsibility. Win football games. If he can win games and also foster a Christian culture based on loyalty, that's fine by me. But if he can't, he has to either drop his principles and get shown the door. I appreciate the success he had 7 years ago. His system was great back then. But thanks to the portal and NIL (and Kavanaugh's terrible decision), CFB is now NFL-lite. If he can't adjust, we can't pay him in perpetuity for his old success.

1. I'm not ready to say Cade is a lost cause. He does seem like he doesn't have the right mindset (he plays scared and doesn't realize where the first down line is). I would be prepared to try out QBs to figure out who's best, but I think the lack of success falls more on coaching than him.

2. It is absolutely not Riley, and anyone who thinks that is an idiot. Our offense is the same exact thing as it was under our last two fired OCs. The constant is Dabo, who thinks he's an offensive mastermind. Riley ran the air raid at his last three schools. He didn't magically forget and go for bubble screens and draws. I saw it described best as us hiring Riley, giving him the groceries he's allowed to use, making him follow our recipes, but demanding he make it a Michelin-level meal.

Dabo should be forced to let his coaches coach. If he doesn't like it, he can leave.

3. I really don't know about Grisham. I used to think he was terrible when we led the country in drops. But we don't have as many as we used to and I see a lot of WRs who good QBs could get it to. I do think there are problems with certain receivers, like Randall and Turner, neither of whom would be on the two deep at most decent schools. But I see a lot of flashes in others.

Anyone who labels Dabo a success because of graduation rate and Kirby Smart a failure because of the same is a pathetic moron. First, Smart's graduation rate suffers because he loses a ton of players to the portal (because he brings in so much talent) and the NFL. We've had less players leaving in three years so ours is higher. Second, this could just be the result of our creating fake majors at Clemson like PRTM where our players have it easy. Third, as I said above, his job isn't to graduate players. It's like you liking your doctor because he straightens up your hospital room while he's in there. That's nice and all, but it's not what you need the doctor for.

just force Dabo to act with one hand tied behind his back. We simply do not have the money to play in that portal world, year upon year. Those are facts that portal worshipers simply refuse to acknowledge. Our whole NIL War Chest is a pimple on those of the big players in the NIL / transfer portal games. And those games are also a lot more related that most want to acknowledge.
