Louisville Restaurants Downtown suggestions?

Sep 14, 2017, 10:27 AM

Heard Doc Crow's and Sidebar are 2 pretty good spots. Any can't miss spots? Also heard the Kentucky Peerless Distillery has a cool tour.

Yes and Bluegrass Brewing directly across the street on the corner has great beer and the best homemade pretzels and beer cheese I've ever eaten.

Mussel and Burger Bar downtown. Great food and great Louisville atmosphere. As you said, Doc Crows and Sidebar are also both very good. Merle's is right across the street from Doc Crows and is a cool place as well (try the hot chicken.)

Wild Rita's is a really cool upscale Mexican place downtown too. Never had a bad experience there.

I would also recommend the above mentioned restaurants. There's some good distilleries as well, if you have time.

Doc Crows is solid and Ive heard same about Merles

If I have to go to downtown Louisville I eat at Doc Crows. BBQ is very good and they make their own house chips. You may want to consider checking on a reservation though as they get very busy, especially with a big event in town. You can walk in but may save you some time if you are able to plan things.

Honestly you can't go wrong with Papa Johns .

And save the top of the box , you'll get 10% off of the Dippin' Dots over at the stadium.

Downtown I'd suggest Milkwood. It's an Edward Lee restaurant (kind of like the Louisville Tom Collichio).

If you go over a couple blocks east to Nulu you have Decca and Garage Bar (a pretty cool restaurant/ bar converted from an old gas station).

Would also recommend Jack Fry's on Bardstown Rd in the Highlands which isn't in the CBD but is a close by downtown neighborhood. A lot of bars around there too.

Re: Louisville Restaurants - don't be boring!!

Sep 14, 2017, 6:24 PM

Why eat at the same boring chains we have in SC. Two great and "off the beaten path" places to eat are the North End Cafe for breakfast, lunch and supper and for non Pizza Hut (and especially Papa John's!) unique pizza, try North End Slice.

Links to their websites:
http://northendcafe.com/
http://northendslice.pizza/

Two customer comments:

"The food is very fresh and the menu selections are pretty wide considering you can bring a strict vegetarian and a strict carnivore to North End and both can enjoy a lovely meal. The overall vibe of this longstanding trendy restaurant is Louisville chic with a twist of down home cooking. Two locations in Louisville… Try one"

"The toppings were pristine, and after the grated mozzarella, they fell gracefully onto the sauce-covered pie. Then, aboard a big wooden peel, my pizza disappeared into the oven. In minutes it emerged, the ingredients beautifully fused into a pizza I couldn’t wait to devour. When you chow down on one of North End Slice’s creations, you taste the extra effort they’ve put into the dough and the sauce.
It’s delicious."
