Georgia game in 1987. Sat in upper deck as a student. When the safety happen, it was the loudest experience of my life. Nothing has beat it yet at any other game in DV. Of course I may have experienced partial hearing loss then, muffling all other experiences.

1987 UGA was my freshman year as well. Was only the third game I had ever attended (the other two being the prior two weeks against WCU and VT). Spoiled me with expectations.

Georgia 1981, when our defense crushed defending National Champion Georgia with Hershel Walker!
Crowd never stopped!
There were a bunch of Georgia fans there too.
9 UGA turnovers, 4 fumbles, and 5 interceptions!
Awesome Tiger Defense.
National Title run started that day!

ears from the pain from the noise except for that game...and I was in the upper deck. Can't imagine what it sounded like on the field. Man that was loud.
I recently picked this game as "best ACC game" (from my limited experience). It was just a phenomenal game start-to-finish. Obviously wish we had won, but it's one of the very few (maybe only?) game where I left a loss and didn't feel bad...just such a good game from all the players.

I was fortunate to be at the 2005 Miami game and 2016 Louisville game. 05 Miami was the loudest I’ve ever heard during late 4th qtr. and the OT’s. 16 Ville was the 2nd loudest but gets credit for being loud from start to finish.
**Edit** I've noticed a couple 2003 Miami responses, we didn't play Miami in 03.

I remember that Miami game when the Westzone was being built. My ears felt like I was underwater at one point it was so loud. I remember thinking is enclosing the West endzone going to make it this loud all the time. Folks too busy looking at their phones to get that loud now.

Was there myself. I believe that's when ND's offence would back off the ball claiming it was too loud to hear signals for snapping the ball. The Clemson rule was started about that time if I remember correctly.

Without a doubt it was the Clemson - Maryland game when we throttled them and Boomer Esiason was their QB. We could not win the ACC Championship because of probation and someone asked Boomer after the game about them being ACC champions. He said "yeah, right now we really feel like champions"!

Back then the cheer leaders were very creative and did a great job getting and keeping the crowd involved. We had guys on the mic who were constantly working the student section and the students were eager to cooperate.
This was the first season for the now familiar “Orange … WHITE!” back and forth cheer. That’s rich, it was something new and different at one time in history.
And also it was the first appearance for the letter-by-letter C.L.E.M.S.O.N circling around the stadium cheer. That one took a great deal of prep work and instructional effort to get the crowd to understand and participate. Today it seems so routine and easy, but it wasn’t easy to begin with.
Today with piped in ear-splitting music and other artificial noise, it’s hard to comprehend what it was like back when there was nothing but the band and the vocal chords of the fans to make things happen.

I don't have my Media Guide with me so I don't know the years but two games stand out. The Notre Dame when Montana overcame a 1st and 45 or whatever it was and then one of the games against Maryland when they were our biggest conference rival in the 80's.

2003 vs. Florida State.
Clemson had lost to Wake Forest 45-17 the week prior. Tommy Bowden was fighting for his job. Clemson dominated FSU in the that game. Clemson went on to destroy UScar 63-17 and then a top-ten UTenn team 27-14 in the Peach Bowl.

Clemson tried to set the noise record on FSUs first series. I had seats 3 rows from field on 50yd line, and all the noise from both sides absolutely hurt.
Unfortunately that was the least of my problems that game as FSU stomped us bad.

September 12, 1992 #5 Florida State led by Charlie Ward vs #15 Clemson. Was a heckuva game! Charlie was unstoppable. Game came down to the wire. We lost a heartbreaker!

As a boy the 1977 Notre Dame game seemed the loudest, but decibel wise for me it was probably 2011 FSU. I wasn't at the 2003 Miami game.
