Lot 10 TG question

Aug 4, 2016, 12:26 PM

Anyone ever tailgated in lot 10? I have been moved to that lot and I noticed on google maps that each of the rows are separated by a small area of land. Do most people back in those spots and set up tents or do they pull straight in and set up tents on the pavement? It look like there is not enough room for people on opposite sides of the aisles to do this at the same time.

I had a spot there two years ago. Most people back into their spots and set up between the tailgate and the median.

We park in that lot. If you're putting up the tent, then only one will typically fit in the median but if it's just tables/chairs/etc. then usually both sides of the median can make it fit. Generally those with tents either tend to get to know and work together with their parking neighbors, or they pull in nose first, climb the curb about halfway into the median and put the tent behind their car (but have to be careful they're not blocking the aisles or they'll get ticketed). The former is preferable.

We have an end spot (on the Perimeter Rd end), so we have the grass to the side which helps a LOT, and we share with friends who park elsewhere and join us for the tailgate.

Was worried with the parking realignment this year but fortunately we kept our spot.

Hope that helps...

^^^ This is very accurate.

Been in Lot 10 for about 10 years now. We typically get there early, set up our canopy, and then work with those who get there later. Or, we work with those already set up if we happen to be late (2 hrs before kick-off :) )

Wanted to follow up a little. Getting in is not usually too difficult unless you arrive late, as mentioned below. Getting OUT, however, is "challenging" unless you happen to be near one of the exits. We usually plan to wait an hour or so before we even start up, visiting or continuing the tailgate. Late games can be (*&#$(*^&%!)#*#)!@. We actually sat in the vehicle probably 90 minutes or so after the ND game last year and even took a short nap during that time because we weren't going anywhere soon. Day games usually aren't TOO bad because folks tend to spread out departures a little more since more are tailgating afterwards.

Endured Lot 10 for a year. The "island" will accommodate a 10 x 10 tent if you're the first one there AND there is not one of the few "trees" behind the space. I hated it as a resident student and hated it more when parking. Of course I parked in West Library with real bathrooms for the womenfolk and electricity at the end of an extension cord for 4 years prior. If you're there early, getting to the space isn't an issue if you're late you'll be dodging those that are already set up. On a bright note I sold my Lot 10 Pass last year for 350 and bought one near Riggs for 400 - probably a ND fan!

Depends on where your spot is. My spot has no trees around

so we need the tent. We don't back all the way up in the parking spot, but rather leave about 5 feet between the jeep and the curb. Then we set up the tent so that it goes halfway into the median, leaving half for the people behind us. Normally they will just join us rather than put their own tent up...

You might be under the trees and won't need a tent at all.

There's a LOT of people that just park there and walk to other lots to tailgate. There's also a LOT of visiting fans for most games...

The worst part is the walk up the hill. We normally take the long way through lot 6 rather than trudge up that hill. I did that enough freshman year!
