Lost

I lost my Tnet password and my email password, so have been unable to log in (also have had the sads). Brain is working better now, and I have figured it out. I lost my computers. I have now aquired a used laptop from a pawn shop.
I am a collector (Bride claims hoarder). Over the last 70 years have collected over 1000 LPs, over 1500 CDs, and over 75,000 high bitrate files. None of it is junk, just older tunes I like.
I collected closets full of excellent audiophile level audio gear.
I collected nice camera gear. I take lots of photos. I file them by month and year going back decades. I have photos of over 120 different birds just from my yard. Memories and photos are a good match.
I collected about 50 beer trays made in the 50's, 60-s -- that was a deal in the day. I collected about 25 nice beer taps and countless different mugs.
I collected the world's best cold weather gear (mostly from ice fishing sites) - "the best" in different gloves, hats, coats, etc. My favorite thing is sitting on my porch no matter the weather. Half of the hours of my last 20 years have been on my a$s out there with my tunes and my critters. That is where I am most happy.
I collected lots of prepper gear -> guns and knives for Zombies, lots of ammo, cooking gear, medicines, etc. I got in a 300 gal water tank, and enough food to feed me for years.
By the time one is 76, most folks have collected things.
Weeks back around 1:00 I was inside on my sofa watching Texas vs KS. A fire started out doors, did not notice it until I saw all the windows were black. The Bride and I escaped with just minor burns. Everything was gone when fire trucks arrived. I was left with a pair of orange shorts, a purple t-shirt, no shoes.
My entire life was in there. I have been erased from the world. I tend to cry when I think on it as I am a shallow person. If I were 56 and not 76, maybe I could start over?
Thanks for letting me post .

Wow, so sorry to hear of all of that. That's awful. Glad you and your wife are ok, though.
I have family down in Ft Myers, FL, and while they were ok, they know many who literally lost everything and one who lost his life. They say that "things can always be replaced," but that's not true with many things like wedding pictures, old childhood keepsakes, etc. Things do have value to us, and that's not shallow and it's quite normal. They're links to our past and connections to parts of us. There's absolutely nothing shallow about being bummed out about your loss. I wish there was something that Tnet could do to help, but fully understand where you're coming from.
God bless and we're glad you're ok.

I’m in. 2/15/14 I lost everything in a house fire. Tough set of circumstances. I thought divorce the year before was bad but the fire topped everything. No you can’t replace the sentimental material things. What helped me to keep things in prospective was this. I only had to deal with insurance adjuster’s and No undertakers. God bless you and the wife moving forward.

Good to hear from you, but I’m so sorry it’s under these circumstances.
You’re 76 Tug. This could have been so much worse. Fortunately, the loss was material. You still have someone’s hand to hold as you go thru this.
Take care and God bless-

loss house fire unless you have been there. Lost my childhood home two weeks after I moved out on my own, in 1977. The only thing I had really taken with me at that point was most of my record collection. Everything else, poof, gone. It really felt like losing a family member. If there is ANYTHING I, or Tigernet in general can do, all you have to do is ask, and I am sure we will come through for you.

I'm so sorry about the fire and loss of everything you have collected over the years. Just know that you are not erased from the world. You are a living, breathing soul, and escaped the fire for a reason. Keep your chin up--you shall persevere. Starting over is not as difficult as it seems. I know.
Welcome back to TNet.

And glad you made it out of the fire. Life throws us some curve balls. I lost my cabin in a flood in 2021, but it wasn't my primary residence, and after a divorce and my dad's passing, it barely made my top three list of ###### things of the year!
I sympathize with you and wish you the best recovery possible. Glad you are back - I have missed your poasts.

Dear Tug, do you have any idea how many posts there have been about your absence from tnet? Everyone has been quite distressed not knowing when you would return. That's one thing you haven't lost is a lot of good Tiger friends who have missed you and your posts.
I too have been a life long collector. One thing that I'm gradually coming to grips with is that when I'm gone the vast majority of my possessions will be donated to Goodwill and the balance simply trashed by my adult children who have zero interest in it. I have some items that are rather valuable that would look like junk to others.
I hope that you will be able to look upon this experience as an opportunity for something completely new to be discovered in your life. In the meantime, we are wondering about the current birds you are seeing around your new location.

Sorry to hear that Tug, but obviously the most important things were saved ...... you and your wife. I too, am like you ...... a hoarder/collector of all sorts of things. As much as I think I would miss my things, I think I can honestly say, that at my age (same as you), they are still nothing but things. Nothing can erase your memories and we will always be here to share those with you! I'm still hurting for you!

and are alive and well, that's the most important thing of course. But I fall into the collector/hoarder category as well. (Not the kind you see on TV, but have an extra bedroom that has become "storage"). Also have several unique pieces of my grandmother's furniture that I had restored, they date back to the early 1900s. And when I cleaned out my Mom's house when she died, she had tons of stuff that I brought home... report cards going back to 1st grade, my Boy Scout stuff, my dad's WW2 stuff, etc. Hel1, there was a closet that still had some of my 70s clothes, like bell bottom jeans & tie-dyed T shirts. And like most folks: I have VHS tapes, 1000's of pictures, and all that.
As someone said - I've thought about the fact that if I died, my son would go through that stuff and toss most of it, it only has sentimental value to me.
Anyway, glad you're OK. I understand your loss and pain at the moment, but you have NOT been erased from the world.

I'm praying for you now, brother. Praying that God will give you the comfort only He is able to give and we know He has an adequate supply.
For you a C&P of Psa 40:
"1 (To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.) I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered..."

I'm just now seeing your post from yesterday. I'm so sorry that y'all are having to go through all of this. At least you and the Bride are ok. I know that it's got to be tough having to start back over. Prayers for both of y'all. If there is anything that I can do, please let me know.

Tug, I'm so sorry for your lost, and I to have lost about everything from my past in a house fire when I was about 40, but nothing close to the things that you have lost over many more years than I had kept things that were important to me, and are now gone.
The very brightest side of everything that you lost that meant a lot to you, is that you didn't lose any part of family. If I were in your situation at your age, and losing everything that I had in keep sakes, I would gladly pile it all up and set fire to it myself if it would mean that I could have my daughter back. We hear all the time that things can be replace, and they can if you have the time and money to replace them but, if I were 30 years old, and if I had Elon Musk money, I couldn't replace my daughter, she is gone forever, and all the money and time in the world couldn't replace Pamela Lee Beach. What I'm saying is this, with everything you lost, and as painful as it is to think about a life time of all the things that you have kept through all those years, just smile, and thank God that the fire didn't take a life from you, and I hope that it will help you see that they were things that if you wanted to, you could replace them...
You will be in my prayers, and I'm so glad that it isn't bc you lost a loved one in the fire... Tug along in Peace, and Happiness tugalooriver, you still have a lot to live for, and to be happy about!!!

If you need anything, I’d like to know how much sweet Nakamichi/NAD gear went up in smoke.
