How can Dabo not use the transfer portal to fill a few holes where we need talent and depth? I’m not saying go out and get a entire class but 4-6 players from the portal would certainly help.

Kirby, Sark and other SEC coaches/programs have been masterful at using Dabo's words and philosophies against him to win recruiting battles. Dabo's recruiting has diminished since 2018, now it has fallen off a cliff.
There's an adage in business to know what your actions will lead to ... Dabo has climbed out on a long limb in not using the transfer portal and as a result facilitated weaker upperclassmen play. Now that limb, and the Clemson does not pay high school recruits limb is being cut off.
So now Dabo wants to circle back and use the transfer portal? Does he also want to pay top high school recruits? What else has he circled back on demonstrating by actions if not words he missed the mark?
And on top of those handicaps, the weakened Clemson team play, possibly headed for a 5-loss season, is less appealing to high school recruits.
Dabo is a football coach ... a motivator ... a good man from all reports. He is not a business man. College football is a business.

Dabo is stubborn, but I truly believed he thought he could get the job done with the players he’s had over the last 4 years. It’s been coaching and play calling that’s been suspect over that period of time. We’ve had top 5 level roster talent for many years now.
If we retain most of our starters, we should still have a talented team returning in 2025. However, a 30th ranked recruiting class will force Dabo’s hand to bolster in the portal. This year will be the year he will dip into it.

Weird because he most definitely didn’t say that in his most recent interviews on the subject. Maybe you’re just a spoiled baby? I have more evidence to form that opinion than you do for your’s of Dabo.

He said Clemson would have tons of money. That nobody would have more. He didn't tell you how he would use it. It will.primarily be used for player retention. He will never pay big money for 4/5 star recuit. He doesn't believe in that model. The proof is that Clemson has had some money and he refused to.use it. Yet another sheep.... follow Dabo.like a good servant!

We use to be elite at recruiting and always in the top 10, with our classes being made up of 4 and 5 star studs! Now we are 37th w half the class being 3 stars. The numbers don’t lie….dabo’s strategy ain’t working!

I think you are judging this class a little too early. Let's take a look back when they are all 30 years old, if we are still here, and decide then what type of class this is.

When Dabo took over a majority on this board would claim Tommy Bowden was a great recruiter - and his classes probably averaged in the 30s.

With the roster limited to 105 players (that means about 15 walk ons won’t be on the team, there will be little pressure to add additional players from the portal. We will be full.

Most people here are fine winning games over schools with far fewer resources than we have, while losing to schools we used to be better than, because they have told themselves that Dabo is the only ethical coach left and that it isn’t possible to have high level success unless you compromise your morals.
These people state that they would rather run a clean program than “cheat,” so they hang their hats on our national championships last decade while weirdly still being fine with us paying Dabo $11 million a year and giving our football everything it could possibly need or want.

I don’t think he will have a choice … it will be interesting to see if it’ll be players just to build depth just to say he used it or if he will pay and get a few players that can actually help us like DE/S/LB and if it were me I wouldn’t be against a good rb to compliment whoever steps up in the current room

The quality of our recruiting class is still very good.
There have been five very recent de-commitments of five UNC verbal recruits within the past few days. I think four of them are 4* players, including at least one DE and one LB.
I betcha we’re in contact with those guys. Signing day on Wednesday doesn’t mean that 5hey cannot sign AFTER Wednesday. Charlotte NC may not be a long drive for them to make to check out a college FB game this coming Daturday.
Just sayin.’

He hasn't used it in the past because non of our recruits flipped commitments and most of our guys didn't transfer. They went after a select few guys in the portal the last couple of years and they chose to go elsewhere.
If we have some guys transfer out, which I'm sure will happen this year, I think you will see Dabo be much more aggressive in the transfer portal. Specially keep your eyes on the UNC roster after Mack Brown was let go.
We probably won't get a super star recruit but we can definitely add some depth on the lines of scrimmage and possibly some attitude/enforcer type guys in the back 7 of the defense.

The whole structure of College football will change as soon as the rulings are handed down.
We’ll be paying everyone with no walk-ons we will have to get many portal players.
Retain the good ones and prepare to put your money where it counts.
Our recruiting changed because it had to due to the new college football!
