Do you have the $100 million plus exit fee ready to go? Even if the GOR is nullified we still have to pony up conference exit fee.

Clemson would actually need an invite from either the Big 10 or the SEC, and from things that I've heard by know it all's, they are saying that the Big or the SEC don't want Clemson or FSU, and if there is any truth to it, that puts FSU and Clemson up chits creek without a paddle, without life jackets, and in a boat with a really fast leak!!!

that there is indeed a lot of interest from Fox Sports and the Big 10 regarding Clemson. Not to mention the fact that there is no way on God's green earth that Clemson would be going to the lengths they are going if they don't have a landing spot already in place. I'm sleeping pretty well when it comes to this!

Acc could sue the big ten and sec if they actually had first party talks with Clemson before they exited. What you hear in the media about those leagues not wanting Clemson or fsu are not really truth. That’s what they want in the media right now

Both conferences must maintain the stance that there is no interest until any team announces its departure from a league or they risk the charge of tampering. There is interest whether people chose to believe it or not.

that Bitcoin was the Devil and only used for extortion, blackmail, kidnapping and other illicit activities as his bank Morgan Stanley simultaneously bought hundreds of millions in Bitcoin while Dimon's testimony drove prices down.
As Trumpster would write it's The Art of the Deal.

You don't have a clue...this is all positioning BS...did you sign...did you profit...how long...why did you wait 10 years to complain...does SEC contracts have anything to do with what you signed...president Clements, did you praise this agreement...when did you know, when should you have known...so you can break a contract just because other contracts are better...if the court will allow this to be voided then no contracts are safe...you will have to live with what you agreed to! We are no longer bound by our agreements...sad day for Clemson Tigers and football!

Is this a serious question or an attempt at being clever? Do you actually believe a TigerNet commenter would have $100 million in disposable cash? It would be so nice to have adult discussions on here.

I didn’t file suit Clemson did, so I won’t be paying any exit fee, Skippy.
It took Maryland YEARS to pay the exit fee, what %age they actually did pay, anyway. I’m sure the increased payments from the new conference will help, but frankly it isn’t my problem.

Clemson has a few booster donors that could buy Clemson out of the exit fee in just a couple of minutes, and I'm sure at least one of them would be happy to loan Clemson the buyout money with an interest free loan

It didn't take Maryland years to pay the exit fee. The ACC withheld Maryland's payout the last year they were in the conference. The exit fee at the time was $52 million, and the money the ACC withheld was around $32 million.

Texas and OU paid $50 million each to leave the Big 12 just one year early. I don't know where your $100M is coming from but I don't believe anyone is leaving 10 years early for a mere $100m.

.... who will say, "That depends on what the definition of 'is' is."
Does it mean "is a member at the time the game is played?" (Seems logical to me.) Does it mean "is a member at the time the contract was signed?" (Which is the ACC interpretation.)
I'm no attorney. I think Clemson is in either the B1G or SEC by the 2025 or 2026 season. But, I'm no attorney.

They become a nonmember if they exit the conference, and that is what Clemson and FSU was after bc the ACC was saying they both were locked in the GOR even if they left the conference until 2036. If the judge disagrees with that, it will mean the GOR would be dead at the moment either of them leave the conference and the ACC couldn't keep them locked into the GOR contract until 2036.

The way I read this the contract is strictly about ESPN

It has nothing to do with a school leaving the ACC and the conference retaining their broadcast rights. The GOR and ESPN agreement are two different issues. What am I missing?

They should have hired you years ago to run the conference...with your special training and experience everyone would have plenty of money and everyone would be happy..except maybe the FSWTC which is more important than everyone else...after throwing a fit many starters did not play in the Orange Bowl...made a mockery of college football...saw my first FSU natty championship license plate...how stupid can you get...Georgia played water boys and cheerleaders...we are now associated with those FOOLS!

There's this concept called 'Letter vs Spirit,' in all law.
2
Jul 13, 2024, 5:49 AM
|
|
When the letter of the law violates the spirit of the law the letter it is set aside in favor of the more virtuous spirit according to the parties involved.
There's also the concept that the letter supports the sprit, and the reader is obviously missing what the letter means.
No final outcome will satisfy me other than Clemson escaping this prison in which we contribute so much and get so little in return.
Frankly, we need Slick Willie to argue for us with his famous BS line: "It's according to what 'is,' is. I don't think it will float but some are satisfied with it.

The OP made a nice post then this thread went downhill quickly. Clemson has the indication the invite is available when they become available. The $100M will like be negotiated down just like when Maryland left. I also believe we asked for damages from the ACC in one of our suits against them
