And why not?

This is a poor attempt to silence rhetoric. If you want to somehow attribute other people's opinions to the cause for an act of violence, do you not understand the dangerous road we go down with that?
Criticizing Trump for what he stands for did not cause an assassination attempt. Have you ever said something harsh about a politician? Did someone try to kill them?
We can denounce a person's political ideology and also denounce attempts to kill him for it. Those two can co-exist.

No, I know you were up late drinking last night (your own admission). So, maybe your hangover hasn't worn off yet? Are you still drunk? You seem a little slow. My "argument" is this: It isn't helping the political climate in this country. Whoever is running his social media account should be fired.
I don't condone it from either candidate. HTH

Sorry that you interpret asking for you to clarify your comments as being "slow".
Sure, it's not helping the climate. But we don't know that contributed to this shooting.

Bud the media and democrats have been calling Trump the second coming of Hitler for years. The same has been said all over this forum. I don’t know about you but if I would have been alive during the Hitler era, I would have gladly killed him the first chance I got. I think you’re a smart person, surely you can understand how a constant media blitz saying Trump is Hitler and a wannabe dictator could push someone to try and kill him. I bet in his mind he was saving America from the second coming of Hitler. Which is an insane idea. Trump is nothing like Hitler, which was proven during his first 4 years in office.

You don't know #### about what caused this. I don't either.
Here are other possibilities: -Perhaps Trump and his supporters hateful rhetoric motivated the person. -Maybe he was just crazy and wanted to be famous. -Maybe he had some sort of sick idea that Trump had betrayed him since he was a Republican. -Maybe there were outside foreign influences here who don't want Trump to win. -Maybe there are homegrown influences that don't want him to win.
You don't know. I don't know. All of you claiming that this was the result of people calling him a fascist and Hitler are grasping at that simply because you don't like it when people call him that.
Don't forget that Trump spouts his share of hatred just as much as the people who don't like him.

Trump talks about Biden’s record. He emphasizes Biden’s policy and presidential action failures.
Biden predicts that a Trump presidency will be the end of America. Except that America prospered during Trump’s first term.
Before getting all wild about J6, consider the initial ‘Trump led an insurrection’ narrative vs the corrected new J6 narrative that includes as-yet uncovered facts of the anti-Trump government’s conspiratorial actions to create chaos on J6.
Trump’s rhetoric is considered hateful because so much of it is factual. Leftists always hate facts.

If he truly is what Biden said there, then why would you not want him taken out? Or maybe, that's just a lot of hyperbole.
Now, that being said, the only person responsible for the assassination attempt and the murder at the rally is the person that pulled the trigger.

You think the shooter acted alone? How do you know that? I'm not being argumentative, but we don't know enough yet to conclude that this guy was able to stroll through a security cordon with an AR, climb onto a sniper perch in front of multiple witnesses and take 5 shots before being stopped all on his own.

down of the hateful rhetoric, and embracing the fact that we are all Americans, this is it. There is a divisiveness that is being driven by and utilizied by political parties that contributes to incidents like we saw yesterday.
The blame, and the accountability, ultimately lies with the trigger-puller; we must realize and hold to that. But let's all step back, take a deep breath, and stop empowering those who are convincing us that everybody who disagrees with us is our enemy and must be stopped at all cost.

Calling someone a danger to democracy is not the same as calling for them to be assassinated.
Trump has indeed shown he is a danger to democracy by inciting an insurrection, constantly lying that the elections are rigged and trying to get vote counts changed (not to mention stealing government secrets).
Biden is asking for votes, not assassinations.

Politics is a luxury that properly working democracies (and republics)

enjoy, when things are functioning correctly. When the wheels of democracy are turning easily and running smoothly, politics makes a difference. When the wheels are off the rails, and not moving easily, politics becomes a diversion, and wholly ineffective at solving the problem, or any problem.
The quicker Americans realize we don't have a political problem but a structural, functional problem, the quicker we will have a solution. There is no republican or democrat answer to our shrinking middle class, trade deficits, illegal aliens, and our inability to balance a budget, raise minimum wages, or achieve quality healthcare. There is no tax solution, there is no spending cut solution. There is no republican or democrat solution to the problems BOTH republicans and democrats have foisted upon the people.
Political parties have us thinking the President is responsible for our spending, our debt, our economy, YOUR job, YOUR education, YOUR healthcare, YOUR food, the freaking weather, etc. And people are more than willing to punt personal responsibility to a political boogeyman. And that's part and parcel of what needs to stop in the US. The poison is believing political leaders have more power and control than they actually have. If they can get you thinking that they do, they then can acquire that power and control, as you credit (or fault) them for it.
The optimal company is not run by like-minded people who all think and act in unison. Optimal education is not obtained from people who all share the same values, and knowledge, and opinions. Why would you get optimal, or even quality leadership in a government that only has only one opinion, or only the opposite opinion?
