Geniuses like RU4GOD saying we should fire Dabo if we have ONE bad year is so sophomoric it’s literally laughable. Enjoy firing an all time great and watching us spend 30 years looking for the right guy. If he has 3 straight seasons without a bowl game, we can talk but this talk is so asinine it’s comical and shows how little some of our fans know about football and the consequences that would follow.

I’m pissed about this season, but those cats have been waiting on Dabo to fail. They’ve always hated him as a person just put up with it for the winning

I want nothing more than Clemson to succeed. That includes Dabo, as long as he's the head coach. If he's the best choice for Clemson, I am his biggest fan. But if he's not, I'll want to get someone better. How I feel about his personally is irrelevant. Although I don't like him on a personal level. I know a number of his former players, and the overwhelming sense I've got is that he's a very arrogant, stubborn person who likes to be surrounded by sycophants. I've also heard from people I trust very well that a lot of his good-ole-boy schtick is an act. I don't like hypocrites, but you're right, I'll put up with it if his lying about it (1) brings us in top recruits (it doesn't any more) and wins games (it doesn't any more).

I played football at the collegiate level and coached at a high level in high school. I have forgotten more about football than you will ever know. First, it's not one bad year. It's 5 years of underperformance, and degrading every year.
In 2018, we had the stock of the top program in the nation and signed arguably the best class in CFB. Every year since then, we've been worse in recruiting and in game-time decisions. We've lost the coaches and players that took us to the peak and replaced them with incompetent and unqualified personnel who are nothing but yes men. Our only qualified hire was lied to and now has his hands tied behind his back. And if you look at our high school recruiting, it's not improving. We had two legitimate studs recruited and that's it, and we'll see what they decide if this team rolls to 7-5 or worse.
I think Dabo has earned more than one bad year. But he has to show sweeping changes at the end of the season, and that includes firing his friends and family. But the fact that you're saying we need 3 straight seasons of less than 6 wins is a joke. It shows how low your standards are for success. I can tell everything I need to know about you as a person from that comment.
It might take some time to climb up again. But I think you'll find coach replacements depend entirely on how much money you're willing to throw at the problem. Ohio State has been through 3 coaches since Dabo was hired. UGA 2. Oklahoma 3. They haven't missed a step, because they're willing to pay the best coaches good money to come there. We pay our coaching staff more than any of them. Get a clue.

That's true. UGA has the same as us. Ohio State has 1 (though they'd have 2 if it weren't for the sanctions). Oklahoma had a questionable defense that held them back. But they were elite at the beginning of Dabo's tenure and are still elite now, despite having multiple transitions at HC. All three are still able to make the playoffs this year, and I could see any of them winning it (though I think Michigan looks the best so far). We've been out of that game for a while now.

With all your experience have you ever been a college head coach, let alone a college with a national profile? Thanks for your insight; or lack thereof, it's a different landscape, and the amount of crazy sh*t that Dabo (and every major coach) has to deal with on a daily basis is off the charts... you cannot even say you have walked in his shadow let alone his shoes...
You want player X to come for an official visit? Thats $5k and first class seats for him, his family and his friends and a suite in the hotel of our choice... oh and thos academic standards? They may need some adjustments or waivers. So now that we are past the official visit, let's talk NIL $$$$...
Rick Neuheisel has spoken about this numerous times, in great detail on the dirty underbelly of college football today. It's not pretty.
Dabo actually cares about the players beyond college football.. which is where most of them are going to end up.
How about the running backs not fumble from the one-yard line? Is that really something that you put on Dabo? Riley? Spiller? or is it on the backs to protect the ball? 3x fumbles with lost possessions inside the 1...
As a coach I would expect that you would be far more in line with the fans don't really know much, they only know what they see... they do not know what was supposed to happen. They only know the soda straw that TV gives them, then they are all experts. Hundreds of comments about the last play of the game, crap call, Cade sucks, blah, blah, blah. Botom line is Cade went rogue... and it did not end well. As a coach what would you do with players that go rogue? I personally thought Dabo's comment was spot on, "you have to play within the system"
There are alot of things to fix... coaching being one of the things to take a hard look at.

You mean like losing half the games you play? We’re 5-5 in our last ten games. You pumpers act like that’s the first game we lost this year and folks are reacting to our first loss.

Football and basketball are 180 deg opposites in the ACC. We’re never won a title in basketball and are the only team that hasn’t. We’ve won like 8 of the last 9 in football, but we could lose the rest of our games this year if we don’t get better quick. That’s 4-8. If Jon Scheyer goes 11-22 Duke fans would melt their fan web down. By comparison Brownell is overachieving. No 5 star is ever coming here. Duke gets a couple every year. Zion’s dad played here and we were never in the conversation. I think Dabo is as good a mentor and example a kid could have, but you have to win. If you’ve taken your program to the mountaintop, you have to stay there. Everywhere in life some people overreact to bad results and you can multiply that by 10 when online.

The poster you mentioned is wrong.
However, I doubt most on here would support paying a coach 11 million a year for three years missing a bowl game.
That's insane.
All anyone wants to see is our magnificent coach adapt to the current college landscape and hire more experienced coaches.
I don't think that's a tall ask considering the current lack of development/talent in several key position groups, most noticeably at OL, RB, and WR.
If that makes me a 1.5%er, then I will wear that distinction with pride.

But the number of posts I’ve seen since Saturday night inferring or flat out saying Dabo needs to be fired is absurd. I am floored even one legitimate Clemson fan would say such a thing. Dabo needs to blow the whole thing up at the end of the season and he knows it. We just need to beat the Cawks and then see what Dabo does this off-season. But he’s more than earned the grace to try to fix it. I was specifically talking about those posters, not anyone criticizing how we got here, we all know it’s a major problem, Dabo included.

Possibly all three but I believe grisham deserves the deepest look. No breakout receivers since powell, which he was only responsible for for one Year. The rest of wide receivers have showed lack of development since then and almost flatlined since freshman year. That part can also be attributed to the O-line so Austin has the second look. Back to grisham is the recruiting coordinator part. I'm not saying we have whiffed on a bunch but I wonder about the evaluation of recruits and fitting into our system. Lastly to spiller, I do not think he has done terrible. The site nly thing I can say is sometimes it's the technical/fundamental guy that's a better couch than the one with God given talent. But keep spiller for now and as a previous poster said more ball security drillS (QB included)

I think you are mistaken about RB. I think Spiller is doing ok,,, what’s he supposed to do? Hold the ball in the RB hands? Come on man be realistic.
Maybe some of us forget, these are 18-20 you, no matter how good they are they still think like 18-20 yo kids…. I’ve seen Pros make mistakes like fumbling the ball or running the wrong route.
There are plenty of things you can put on a coach, but in the end, it’s the players that play!!!!0

I think that many of us would like to see changes in the program that must be made going forward in order for it to be successful. It's called caring and wanting the best for your university. Very, very few want Dabo fired.

Not once do I mention we shouldn’t expect more, because we all do. The post doesn’t attack anyone for criticizing the program and Dabo. This was specifically directed towards those saying we should fire him or consider replacing him. Look how long it took Tennessee, Texas, FSU, Florida, etc to replace their all time greats… re-read the OP, like I said, reading comprehension is hard.

This is not a “reloading” team. This fuster-cluck is going to take 2-3 seasons to fix.
I’m not sure how much ppl real dig into the major problem, here:
Dabo’s loyalty/arrogance combined with (eventually) having to get rid of multiple former-players-turned-failed-coaches is going to be a tall-mfing-task that I’m not sure he’s 100% up to. We’re talking a complete retooling of offensive hires, of which were all his.
Admitting that your CEO type decisions have literally sunk the ship isn’t going to be something this man’s hubris allows.

When and only when this program and fanbase becomes ready to stop being SO EMOTIONALLY attached, then and ONLY then will yall maybe be ready to step into now way of thinking and operating. Maybe. When you’re ready. Things will get worse before they get better. By that time you might look towards Lynchburg VA. 🙏

Right. We are all disappointed, but to even think of firing Dabo is laughable. Now to be critical of decisions is a different story.
I think these folks have forgotten the West and Bowden years.
