Dude, you're smarter than this and so is Liz Cheney. She has a law degree from a very fine law school, the University of Chicago.
You and Cheney both know Trump was not threatening to kill her with a 9 man firing squad or any firing squad for that matter.
I don't like Donald Trump. I didn't vote for him. I didn't vote for Harris, but this is just stupid trying to turn this into something it's not. Trump has said much dumber stuff and stuff that could be perceived as threatening, but this is nothing more than a dishonest move to gain votes.
I subscribe to WAPO. Reading their characterization of this is truly Orwellian.

to see Republicans who have turned on Trump and see him as such a threat that they endorse the Democratic candidate for President. Having been an observer of politics since the 1960s, I've never seen anything like it before in my life.

no one goes out of their way to throw down the gauntlet the way she has without knowing something ultra-dark.
Pure speculation on my part, but it’s based on first hand principles and the experience having sat directly across from her for a six hour dinner, observing her operate in a room with 600 other DC big wigs.

Trump is openly hated by many Republican politicians and ‘achievers’ within the federal bureaucracy … and also quietly hated by many others from within that group … because his ‘Republicanism’ is not consistent with the Republicanism that ended after Eisenhower and Nixon were done.
Generations of ‘Reagan quasi-imitator’ Republicans had gradually worked their way up the political & bureaucratic ladders under the ‘rules’ as defined by the Reagan-esque Republican infrastructure.
Trump, being smart enough to realize from Ross Perot’s failure to succeed via the third party route, chose the Republican Party infrastructure to launch a JFK-ish political run for the WH. To the surprise of the entire world’s political establishment, he won.
In so doing, he destroyed the hard-fought career Republican careerists including Mitt Romney, the Bush family, the McCain family, the Cheney family, John Kasich, and many other higher ambitions from hundreds of RINOs.
The establishment losers hate Trump for this. Their personal ambitions always were their first priority; the good of the country was also secondary.

His lack of character/morals/ethics is what makes him dangerous.
I don't get why people constantly excuse his actions like this. He is unfit.

... And tell me with a straight face that he did everything he could on Jan. 6 to keep things peaceful.
These are statements under oath by people he handpicked to serve under him. Not some conspiracist with a blue checkmark on Twitter, not some talking head on a news show, but rather HIS people with direct, first-hand, eye witness testimony.
Or, just keep taking the word of the conman himself when he says he didn't do it. I mean, why would HE lie, right?

Crying about J6 must never get old. Well good news for you I guess, what happens after this election, regardless of who wins, will make J6 look pale in comparison. I’m thinking we are about to see what a civil war in 2024 looks like. I’ve felt this building for a long time and I assume many other people have to.
Something has to give and neither side is giving an inch. If I’m being honest, I’m concerned.
So you go ahead and whine a few more days about that.

Aaron Rupar

Read Rupar's post which has Reuters posting "Trump suggested Liz Cheney should face firing squad for her foreign policy stance."
Here is what Trump said about Cheney without the edit from Rupar:
"She's a radical war hawk.Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her,OK? Let's see how she feels about it.You know, when the guns are trained on her face. They're all war hawks when they're sitting in Washington in a nice building saying,"oh, gee, well, let's send 10,000 troops into the mouths of the enemies,'but she's a stupid person and I used to have meetings with a lot of people and she always wanted to go to war with people."
Now you know the rest of the story as Paul Harvey used to say.
Trump is not a crisp communicator and he is wrong to call Cheney stupid as she's quite bright, but this is a media created story to help Harris. All the usual suspects creating the impression that Trump is calling for Cheney to be killed is ridiculous and if you're honest with yourself, regardless of all of Trump's BS, you know too that this is not a legitimate argument.
I'm not too familiar with deaths by firing squad, but I would be willing to bet none of the victims of a firing squad have been given a rifle to defend themselves.
There is plenty to attack Trump with, but this is once again disappointing to see the media take something and breed a false narrative.
Barley lamp is lit for me, albeit late.
Go Tigers! Beat Louisville! Should be a good game.

Trump makes an idiotic/classless statement. He call Liz Cheney dumb (think about how many Presidents you've heard talk like that) and calls her a radical war monger (or something like that). - She's not dumb - She's not a radical war monger. She has different views than the former President and this is what he does/says about any level of difference of opinion. Vilify, hate, extreme, division - And his comment about her being in battle. We have a civilian-led military for many reasons. I dn't recall HIM ever serving either. As POTUS, did he never put service people in harms way? Of course he did. It was a stupid thing for him to have said on many levels.
And then many in the media and in left-leaning folks say he was calling for violence against Cheney. He wasn't...he was clearly talking about her foreign policy positions and then saying she might not feel the same if she was the one doing the fighting. Of course, that's not a requirement for taking a political position on any kind of issue.
Trump says something stupid and classless, then makes a horrible illustration of his point...and then many in the media and his opposition twist if ill-chosen words and try to turn it into something else...when in the end, they could have just made a point about what he actually was saying/trying to say. It was bad enough straight up.
