You run it twice from the one with a Qb up the middle and then a 4th team RB up the middle ? Please move on to another school that was dumb as it gets. Texas couldn’t stop the pass for ####

My god 4 downs doesn’t define you. He has gotten the offense way better than when he came with the help of Luke. I would also argue he is still missing some pieces. Riley like shifting and pulling lineman. Most of our lineman do not fit that profile.

The offense played arguably their best game of the year against arguably the best defense in CFB.
Putting up more yards than any team vs them all year.
Nearly matched their TD passes given up all year (4) in a single game (3).
But yeah.. fire Riley lol.

Wes will never have a coordinator job again once Dabo comes to terms with the reality that hiring Wes was the dumbest decision he’s ever made since he got hired. Also, Wes will never marry you no matter how hard you defend him so give it a rest little miss.

Riley is a genius he just needs less oversight and a few more pieces and we’re cookin’ with grease.
Wes, IDK. He is missing a lot of DL pieces. UT literally beat us with basic middle school toss right/left because our DE’s cannot set the edge.
They literally just kept running the same play over and over… that’s not scheme that’s bc we have no DE’s.

It's Riley and he sucked much of the year, but he should get another year for sure. He leaves and we are sunk with transfers. There was a lot of offensive promise in that game yesterday. I am optimistic, very optimistic, about our offense next year.

I agree.
Quite frankly, before yesterday, I considered Garrett Riley to be a bust. His best game before yesterday’s U of Texas effort, as far as play calling, was … I doubt many agree with me … vs S.Carolina. His play calling was good (except for the predictable 3rd / 4th and short calls in the red zone) was smart, and took into account S.Carolina’s truly fearsome pass rush by utilizing quick routes throughout the game). I looked at the S.Carolina game as an outlier as far as Garrett Riley’s performance; the SMU game reinforced my overall body-of-work dissatisfaction with him.
Although he had the benefit of a two week practice period between SMU and U of Texas, he made the most of it. I’m now convinced to give G.Riley another shot next year is the right decision.
With yesterday’s great play calling and game plan by Riley, and CK2’s must-be-confident-in-Riley sentiments, I think that CK2 might bolt to a place like TX A&M if Riley is asked to leave us.

Our 3rd / 4th and short play calls in the red zone are highly predictable. Especially so when our proven-to-be-horrid ‘jumbo package’ is deployed.
I’ll never understand why we kept doubling and tripling down on that failure. Burn it and urinate on the ashes.

I think they were going for control of the game. Stuffing it in for a TD up the middle is power football and would have changed the feel of the game. We had momentum. I’m ok with the calls.

He would have had the ball in the end zone on third down. If not, the team would immediately line up and pound it in on 4th.
I miss the days when third and short was not a problem. Other teams still go under center on third and short. Why not Clemson?

I feel like I remember similar situation against SMU as well. Running outside when we clearly were bigger and stronger up front. Thought I remember the announcer also questioning why Riley had run outside back to back vs SMU in that game.

Plays only work when your lineman can win their blocks. Our O line was destroyed all night and most of Cade’s throws were thrown scrambling. Recruit better line Linebackers in wrong position most of night or couldn’t get off blocks. They got torched in the passing game all year by running backs/tight end matchups, especially Carter. Great player, but bad cover in passing game

Did you see the interaction of the Clemson coaches on the sidelines before those 3 plays?? That was not Riley. That was Dabo interjecting again. "Dabo Ball" has lost a lot of games for us in recent years. There should be a requirement for next season, that Riley and Dabo stand on opposite ends of the Clemson sideline.

You’re normally pretty sane but you’ve seem to have lost your mind lately.
Dabo ball, btw, is one of the most successful programs in the playoff era. We don’t know if Dabo called the runs, but every and any head coach worth his salt interjects from time to time.
As it is, “Dabo Ball” hasn’t cost any games. Please come back down to earth. Sometimes teams lose games.

It was the perfect call on 3rd down. If Cade makes the pitch to a wide open Adams he walks in for the TD.

Add he calls pass plays from the two and gets sacked or picked, you’d be screaming run the ball. Issue was we had no running backs that could force it in. Cade was the only option and Texas knew it. Not Riley’s or Cade’s problem that we had no running backs. With a healthy power back, we win regardless of Wes Goodwin’s crappy coaching. 0 changes at half on the D except let’s let them keep blowing us up.

Just like you can see regression in the stats on defense, you can see progress in the stats on offense. His coaching of cade alone warrants him being here. As someone else pointed out our offensive line should be able to blow guys backwards for a yard that was not the case yesterday it has not been the case most of the year, but the OL has definitely improved under Luke and will only get better

He's not perfect but putting 24 points on the #1 total defense in the nation, in their house, is nothing to hang your head about. Longhorns gave up 4 passing touchdowns through 13 games. Cade through 3 in the matchup. Clemson is also the only team to put 400+ yards of total offense on Texas, this season. Last season, the offense was abysmal and Riley brought signs of life into the group this year. As long as this core group stays together and no one unexpected bolts for the portal, they will continue to build on their improvement going into next season.

I assume he had the option. Adams put his hands on his helmet after the play so i think he'd have walked in.
The 4th down call was awful.

Adams was supposed to show pitch to draw the corner and then block him. He did neither. The defense never committed to the pitch back, thus the play had little chance of success once the cornerback sealed down. I think adams hit his helmet bc he was mad at himself. He just ran himself out of the play. Pure idiocy on his part. or maybe poor coaching on cj's part.
