I've said repeatedly that I won't call for Dabo's head. But I was asked last night this question, and it made me think.... so I ask you....
"If Clemson gets embarrassed in the SMU game, and Dabo makes no staff changes, should a change at HC be considered by the school?"
What say you?

The game is Saturday. Let's watch, listen to the interviews afterward...and then have a conversation about it. No need to discuss hypotheticals at this point. It will just sow discord. I think it would be a great discussion, though.

Eventually the stubborness to adapt has to change one way or another. I'm not calling for him to be fired/resign or whatever flavor you want to call it. However the game is passing him by regardless if we win or lose Saturday night. The reality is we weren't even in control of our own destiny at 3:30/4pm last Saturday. Miami and Syracuse bailed Dabo out. That is the reality.
I believe if Clemson wins Saturday night, Dabo isn't going to make any changes. I hope I'm wrong, but he is going to spin it as his way works. Others in this board will also defend him and look the other way in regards to the serious problems that exist and continue to make the program weaker.

To me, Dabo shouldn’t go until A. He wants to, or B. We have become so non-competitive (think 6-6, 5-7) due to lack of obtaining / retaining talent because of Dabo’s moral compass preventing him from doing what needs to be done (tampering, bribery, etc.). C. He completely loses the locker room (and I don’t see that happening).
We have seen Dabo make changes before. Matt Luke is a home run hire. Riley who knows? That is an argument of is he free to do what he wants or is he really sort of meh? I think Wes is too much of an analyst and not enough of a coach but following a legend like Venables is a tough task. I would like to see a demotion to Co-DC to keep his talents and put him upstairs, but have an in-game DC on the sideline. If he won’t accept that he would then move on.
A lot of people on this board have a beef with Grisham and Richardson which I think is a bit much. Would a new coach be as clear an upgrade as Luke for Austin was? It would have to be additional home run hires.

9-3 playing the weak schedule we played in quite bad as it is. 2 of our losses were on the coaching staff. The stadium is going start looking empty if we win 7 games a year. By the way Wes has a co-defensive coordinator, his name is Mickey Conn. They both need to go. It baffles me that you think Grisham and Richardson are okay. They have been here for long enough and the results haven't improved on the offensive side of the ball.

Does anyone remember Phil Farmer of Tennessee and how long it took them to come back after his firing. Would we really want to go through that when we are still winning 9 or more games a year.

Way, way back......the recent death of Alabama great and former TN coach Bill Battle brought this very subject to my mind. Coach Battle was 59-22-2 at Tennessee and seemed to be stuck on 7-4 every year which upset the Vol faithful, so they fired him. It took them forever to get back to that level consistently.

No. I’m frustrated with some of the decisions being made, but right now I trust Dabo more than anyone else we would bring in to replace him.

Think of all the players hitting the transfer portal if Dobo is gone. At that point, a 2 win season like FSU would look good.

We can’t pull a Tommy Bowden and keep someone around just because we are afraid of what might happen. If so, we wouldn’t have Dabo and all he accomplished. Also, the right hire can rebuild a team just as quickly using the portal.
That being said, I think we are far from needing to make that decision. It’s not like we’ve completely fallen off the cliff. We are playing for a championship and shot at the playoffs Saturday.

If we were 6-6 or 7-5 this year, that would make more sense. We are playing for the conference championship Saturday so it’s not just about the past and history. That is the problem with TNet. So many people on here make it sound like we dropped off a cliff and only won 6 or 7 games these last few years.

Presently…….9-3…….presently, playing for the conference championship in 2 days, presently, have the Coach with the most wins in the 70 year history of the conference. Presently, have the most accomplished football Coach in the history of Clemson. That’s the present.

Ill stay with the devil I know until the situation is more dire than it appears to be now. As others have said; imagine getting rid of Dabo and then having a 5-7 season under Joe Blow. Nightmare scenario
