Last Year Spoiled Us

Yes, I know we had a close call vs Syracuse, but it was easy to play that off due to Lawrence's injury and the KB controversy leading up to that week. Truth is, we annihilated the competition the rest of the year. Well, look at each of our playoff runs. Every single season, we have that "One" game where we aren't playing 100% up to our standard. And you know what? That is perfectly NORMAL. We cannot expect every team we play just to roll over at the sight of the Clemson bus pulling up to their stadium. Even teams that are overmatched will sometimes rally together and put their best game together when such a high profile, and trust me we are THE high profile team in CFB now, comes to town. The shear fact we survived and won this game speaks volumes to our coaching, character, leadership, and chemistry. I love we had a scare. I love that it happened early, before the bye, and I love that when the chips were down, we made one more play than UNC and won it. Anyone bickering about our play or this coach or that playcall, or that young QB who led us to one of the most dominant seasons in CFB history, STOP IT. We should expect the best from this team week in and week out but realistically every team can AND WILL have an off performance and in those moments it defines the men from the boys to be able to stand up and WIN. Really, the only team that has managed to avoid that unexpected non-rivalry loss over the duration of this period is Alabama. But their time will come too. We proved that. I love the love for some of these teams. Bama's best win? Duke. Yep.

Agreed, I meant in terms of not having a loss or definitive bad game we can't point to injury (like the UNC game). Many here act like we didn't lose to PITT, Syracuse, almost lose to NC State the SAME year we lost to Pitt, and let an atrocious USofC team score in droves on us in 2015 (a game that ticked me off at the time. Looking back, not so much). We won this year's game like that. I do not see the UNC game as a harbinger of doom and gloom, the way so many posts have sounded the last few days.

if by "spoiled" you mean it raised my expectations from the team and made me more complacent (Playoff is a sure thing; our only rival is Alabama), then you are right.
After UNC, I just want us to win - I don't care if we win big or not. Just winning will get us into the playoffs. Ideally, I want to be relaxed by the second half, but if that is not in the cards and the other team is still in the game - so be it - some excitement is not all bad as long as the good guys win in the end.

My problem isn't the other team's performance,my problem is the "shooting ourselves in the foot" type of game we played. Granted, you will have games where your execution isn't spot on, but when you come out and you are not "mentally foscused" as if you are on the field, but left your brains on the bus, well that's my take.
