Korncoot and other coots on Muscoot recruiting state of SC
Feb 15, 2016, 12:07 PM
|
|
OK. So the Korncoot and coot spin machines are in full operation. To hear these guys talk, it's like Muscoot and his coaches have already taken over recruiting the best in-state players.
I'll admit that our ability to now recruit much more regionally and nationally has allowed us to depend less on the in-state guys. I fear one consequence of this is "surrendering" some in-state guys to the chickens. What is everyone's thoughts on this?
I see a few players in the state over the next couple of cycles that are really good players that we may flat-out not have room to take.
Some of those are:
Dakerion Joiner Shi Smith O'Tre Smith Xavier Thomas Etc.
I've always thought that if two guys were equal (or even very near equal) in talent, you give the nod to the in-state player. I just hate to the see the coots strutting around talking about "taking over the state in recruiting".
I know, I know, just keep kicking their #### on the field and I guess it really doesn't matter right?

What about O'Tre Smith? Maybe offer as a TE?
He is a legacy and a lot of services have him in the top three in-state players. Would hate to see him head to cootville.

does not matter where they come from. We will get the best in state players if we want them. i would rather take an instate player, just to keep him from the Coots, than to give a scholarship to a legacy player. Let their parents pay for his scholarship. We are in this thing to win . You use whatever means is necessary.

Thing is that these coaches are getting the cream of the crop at every position from wherever they want, this isn't about Scar it's about football at a national level at this point.

It's important to do well in your home state but South Carolina is rarely talked about as a hotbed of high school football talent. Get the best student/players from SC and load up on the rest from other areas. How many top 300 players were in SC this year?

Honestly y'all recruiting so well nationally might actually allow both programs to be competitive at a high level. If you guys leave us guys like OrTre I will be very thankful.

Competitive at a high level with CussChamp ?!?!?!

[ in reply to Re: Korncoot and other coots on Muscoot recruiting state of SC ] |

I wouldn't bet the farm on that happening.
CussChamp couldn't succeed at Florida, a school with decidedly more advantages compared to $CU
I suspect $CU will continue to struggle to attract the top talent away from Clemson much less the traditional SEC powers like Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.

that if Clemson doesn't have room, that Chump will get them BECAUSE he offered them. Most of thses guys will wind up at UNCheat or UGA if Clemson doesn't have room for them.

From what I have been reading, very few are seriously considering Cootville. Why would they other than playing time on a bad team and program.

I read where Smith could be a TE or hybrid back. Could have the size for it.

Sort of unrelated question: those players you named

Have you seen them play? If not, what is the basis of your opinion that they are good?

Negative. I have not personally seen them play.
However, I have not personally seen Hunter Johnson, Chase Brice, Amari Rodgers, or any of our other 2017 commits play. They do have a certain number of recruiting stars by their names just as these guys from in-state do. Seeing as how we have offered those guys scholarships, I assume that they are good players.
I'm basing my comments on the opinions of others that have seen them play and rank them accordingly.
HTH.

Realistically, unless a whole lot changes, USUC is going to have to settle for players not recruited by other power 5 conference schools.

Take the best players for each position...

if they are in-state, then great! But if you find someone in Nebraska who is a better person and a better player, then take him. I don't think we are going to ignore SC, but we don't have to necessarily depend on SC.
