the site writer thinks Clemson is pretty good and a fair critique. Think they underestimate the overall defensive ability of the Tigers until see them against their team. Kentucky is a lot like Penn State before the Tigers played them - a team that scores a lot with many 3s but probably more of a clip. Clemson handled Penn State defensively and had them at their pace and that was only an 18 hour turnaround since they played the night before. Glad Kentucky is a slight favorite now by oddsmakers that just came out. The Tigers play at their pace, and they will have a great chance to win in a close game. Kentucky has only played one good team Duke on a neutral floor and this is their first true road game. They have a bunch of veteran players from the portal making up their team. A lot of those guys played in the NCAAT but not all of them. If Chase and Ian play their top games and someone like Wiggins and Dillon have good games they can win it, would not even be surprised playing at home it might be slight double digits at the end. Go Tigers! Link:

Also mentioned in link it was Jimmy Dykes doing the Color Commentary for ESPN. He is the biggest SEC homer. I was hoping it was Jay Bilas because he is always fair in his commentary even when Clemson played Duke.

I went and watched them in person last week vs WKU, was not overly impressed. Size-wise I think we match up pretty well with them. They have 2 decent shooters from the outside but those guys are not overly athletic. I think our guard size and quickness will really test them, their big white kid, about 6’11– I forget his name, maybe Brookes? We stood out the most to me but I think Scheflin will neutralize his contributions.

the big 6-11 white kid is Carr who played at Wake Forest the last two years. Never gave Clemson a huge amount of trouble at Wake.
Just saw a tweet that one big Kentucky fan said he was worried about Heidbreader off the bench because knows he was a good shooter from Indiana and at Air Force, and said he was a big Kentucky Fan growing up. Would be great to see if that happens.

I've watched plenty of college basketball, and know that we are top level team when playing well, so I would not at all be surprised if we win this evening against Kentucky.
My hope is that we provide a tough matchup win or lose, and gain valuable experience for later this year. When you're playing a true blue blood team, you never know how the refs are going to call it....

What’s the boards prediction on this game? I’m figuring LJ will be rocking which will be fun to see. Wish I could get down there but I have to work today and tomorrow.

Just my opinion of course, but I think it is a close game that comes down to the wire. The ending could go either way, we're going to need someone to hit some big shots, and for Ian to stay out of foul trouble. I am assuming Kentucky is pretty big so Reeves may get some extended minutes, will need him to play smart.
I think we drop a close one, and I hope I am wrong!
LJ will have more Kentucky fans than you would expect, but will still be a good home court advantage. We'll see how many of the center section "I only buy these seats to get football tickets" peeps show up, and how many sold to Kentucky fans.
Starting this game at 9:30 SUUUCCKKKSSSSS

Clemson has "A lot of beefy burger boys" according to Kentucky fans lol. What does that even mean? Also interesting that they don't even mention Myles Foster when he had 20 and 15 against them last year at Illinois State.

They probably not even aware of him and what he did last season. I hope Brad gives him a chance in this game knowing what he did last season. If Ian still struggles from 3 might want Myles to get a few 3 shots since he is 2 of 3 in that 1st game this season.
I think the Tigers have a great shot to win and it will be close. Most of these guys are not going to be intimidated by the Kentucky jersey since play ACC blue bloods Duke and UNC especially the 4 returners and JZ when he was at BC, and even Viktor played Kansas in the BIG 12 last season. Slow tempo a little, prevent a lot of 3s, and rebound well and can wins this. Remember no matter how many Kentucky fans are there, Clemson will be packed in the student section.

It's going to be a fantastic environment. I am bummed that I won't be able to attend. I haven't been to a Clemson basketball game in Littlejohn in nearly a decade but when a good team comes in to town that place can get rocking with the biggest and best arenas in America.

Expect a loud student section tonight. I will be showing up at 4:30 to wait in line for a court side student section spot. Hearing that many other students will show that early as well.

A couple fans that think it'll be a blowout, there's Clemson fans that think that way every week in football too. Plus it's easy to dismiss us given our pre-2018 basketball history. But overall it seems like Clemson is getting a lot of respect from the UK crowd. It should be a great game with similarly matched teams.
