Kelly Bryant, #1 QB in Spring...
Dec 6, 2016, 10:08 AM
|
|
So Dabo has already given the keys to Kelly in the spring. Things change, I know, and there will be a TON of competition for that job.
Just making some small talk on a rainy Tuesday... Kelly can run with the best of them from the small sample size we've seen, almost reminds me of Woody's legs. Any chance he can develop to a Lamar type? That diamond in the rough.
I compare to Lamar because we all know throwing is not his strong suit. I'm sure there might be some better current guys to compare him too.

Competition is going to be fierce in the spring with the influx of Brice & Johnson. Both of those guys are going to be nipping at the heels of the veterans for sure.
Beyond perfecting his arm, i still think Kelly is deficient in check-downs. Being able to read defenses and anticipate is a gift. It can be worked on but for the most part, it's an innate ability that one either has or doesn't have. Running the read option style offense requires a QB to do both things in tenths of a second. Deshaun had it as a sophomore in high school but some guys never get it.

Cooper is there as well. He redshirted this year so it has given him some extra time to bulk up and work on his mechanics. I think we well be OK come next season at the QB spot. The defense will be improved as well. As Dabo said these are the good ole days. Go Tigers.

Cooper is the guy I would love to know more about! I'm (unpleasantly) surprised at the lack of highlight videos on YouTube of this kid. The other day I was looking far & wide to no avail. Where's all the footage of Z. Cooper? I know he's been critical for certain scout team situations and Dabo speaks the world of him but he's the best kept secret.

^^^^^^ That's what concerns me. ^^^^^^^^ haven't seen it and would think he'd go in b4 nick this year if he had it. Just hope Dabo makes the tough call if it comes to it.

give Kelly his chance to prove himself. Why wouldn't Kelly be first string in the Spring? It's all about competition. Kelly being the starter in the Spring was always a given.

Roy Philpot thinks it will be ZC or HJ coming out of the spring ahead of KB. The O will more than likely take a step back next year because of the new QB but the D should be better.

DW is going to be missed for sure but Legget in the redzone and just having M Williams on the field is going to hurt. We have players to step in but those 3 are going to be hard to replace

will be missed as well. Who knows how the new QB and center will do together as well with Guillermo gone. We lose an outrageous amount.

It's going to be interesting to see if the O can maintain next season, that's for sure. I believe by the end of the season Johnson will be our QB. He has put up great numbers in HS on a bad team and will be a star with the talent at CLEMSON.

If Kelly Bryant is our starter for Auburn

We will lose at least 4 games next year. Has had 2 years to develop and could not even move up to second string. Needs to change positions to take advantage of his athleticism.

Supposedly he is the real deal and Bryant is getting the nod in the spring because he is the vet, but ZC is supposedly better. Just what I have been told FWIW.

Absolutely not but if we start having trouble moving the ball I would hope Dabo gives them all a shot. If KB doesn't win the job I think we see some running packages for him tho

I'm not sure Bryant has that kind of arm talent, although I think he can be as good a runner as Jackson. At any rate, if he's the QB, I really hope our offense looks a lot like Louisville's did this year.

I'm inclined to think that Clemson's streak of 10 win seasons may come to an end next year. But I remember feeling uncertain about life after Tajh Boyd and Sammy Watkins. What happened? The staff had Mike Williams waiting in the wings, brought in Scott, Watson, and Gallman. They relied on the defense which was stacked with returning starters and NFL talent.
Next year the Tigers will have a similarly great defense. They already have Deon Cain, Ray Ray McCloud and Hunter Renfrow on the roster with significant experience. They have KB or Cooper on campus already with two QBs coming that are just as highly rated as DW was. At RB there's several solid options. And more offensive line talent here than there's been at any other point in my lifetime.
We will be fine. Go Tigers!
