Just saw clip saying Kansas headed to SEC. Our people really need to push things along before there is nowhere left to go.

Interesting. Maybe the shot-callers at KU think the additional tv revenue is worth a 2-10 football season - every season.

I was just thinking the more this money grab nonsense goes the less interesting the college sport scene becomes. Between the portal and NIL I pay little attention anymore

I don't get the inference with KU.
Expansion is being pushed by the top College Football revenue producers. KU isn't one, and basketball doesn't factor into equation.
Why would the SEC agree to dilute the revenue stream and pay their members less by adding KU???
Sounds like another dumb rumor.

I don’t necesssirily think SEC is looking ro add another top tier football program for n this one. They already have a number of those. Now they’re looking for tv markets and basketball. It’s why they’re talking UNC or Kansas. Clemson would fit in but I don’t they’re looking for another sec style team.

Time for mourning.

I never followed the NFL because it just felt like the players were just going through the motions. The in person excitement level was nowhere near our beloved college atmosphere. I preferred the college game because it seemed like the guys were playing for the fun of the game and to get an education. That seems to be escaping us now. There is really nowhere for us,as fans to turn. NIL is even encroaching into the high school level and with all the Charter and sport centered private schools. 🤦 No where to turn. It's just sad.

I just don't see the doom and gloom in this. When Clemson runs onto the field in Atlanta on August 31 would it really matter if the roster included a WR transfer from TCU or anywhere else? Would it matter that Clemson got that WR over NC State because of a NIL deal? I don't think Clemson fans will be any less enthusiastic about the Georgia game or season because of any of that that. Players, like most everyone else on the planet, have acted in their self-interests. People are naive to assume players have always loved your college or team the way you do. That self-interests used to be the kid grew up a fan of the school or a family member attended or played there or they thought the coaching would get them to the next level. I think all those interests remain, it's just that now a player can help his family financially. I do see the complications with this. I just think most fans are going to accept it and continue to be fans.

Does it matter?? Yes. Yes it does. When your “team” makes a run in the NCAA tournament and 3 of your starters played for another school last year it matters. How are you supposed to feel any emotion about a rental squad. Oh looky there we are renting three new players projected to be starters next year who played at some other school this year! What a way to foster fan involvement. As for the players look no further than FSU last year in football. So dedicated to their school and fans they left in droves as soon as they missed the CFP. Do you really think fans will continue to buy this level of fleeting commitment all for the sake of players being openly paid huge sums of money, way more than the average season ticket holder makes? There’s already one NFL. It’s a terrible business model and doesn’t resemble what built college football in any way, shape or form.

So if Clemson trotted out a few transfers against Georgia, that would affect your enthusiam for the game? You'd be less emotionally involved...less happy with a win and less sadden or stressed with a loss...all because those players once played for another team? You may feel that way I suspect most don't. If a transfer kicker from Kansas State kicks a field goal that beats UGA, I doubt many Clemson fans would caveate that win...."well, it was with a transfer."
Do I really think fans will continue to buy all this? Yes, I do. The excitement as the season approaches will be off the charts. People will groan about NIL and transfers and threaten no to watch. But, they'll watch and brag when their team performs well - with or without transfers.

It doesn't matter bc, the talking heads and most of the sports folk that act or think they know what they're talking about are believing that Clemson and FSU will end up in the BIG when all has been said and done...

I have seen little about Clemson to the B1G. More about FSU. Clemson is not on the radar of most B1G fans comments I have read. They would rather have FSU and Miami as a package deal(similar to USC/UCLA)for recruiting purposes. I've seen more about Clemson and UNC to the SEC and it feels like that's what their fans want too.

Figured it was just some basement dweller trolling for clicks based on absolutely nothing other than another basement dweller stating “hey, KU should go to the SEC - it’s worked out ok for Missouri”.
Figured it is the same as the deal with all the BD speculation about ACC future membership. Nobody knows anything.
Or am I wrong to be so cranky and quickly get off my lawn dismissive?

Get off your lawn dismissive. With the House/NCAA settlement imminent by MAY 25, 2024, and putting every power 4 school on the hook for 20-30 million a year, and increasing every year, the race is on to find that money. It ain't in the ACC. ONLY THE SEC AND BIG CAN PROVIDE IT.

If all that your about is cash for itinerant labor and the education is even less important to them than it was to you...why would a college even have a football team if there are so few student athletes that you have to make up courses of study which resemble little other than GPA! Surely Clemson does not field a football team just to support Ole men's testosterone! Win at any cost!

All of the let's quit crowd are grasping for any straws...Kansas can't even compete in the Bid12 and if you only care about some money and perceived status then that is cool...but if you don't win where you go then your fan base wanes you lose big...the SEC relishes fodder but Bama, Jawja, LSU, UF and others are not going to let Johnny come lately newcomers own their stage! Not Clemson, not FSU, not UNC or Kansas...with buckshot in your a** stealing grandma's chickens ain't so easy! Before you jump off the cliff you should be real sure of the outcomes!

If the SEC brings on any of the teams you mention, it will be because they add to the conference. Fear will play no part. As for "Johnny come lately" owning the SEC stage, Mizzou won the East the first two seasons they were in the SEC.

Let's put together a team from a beer league and we will stand as much of a chance getting into the SEC as Kansas does. I feel Clemson, FSU, NC are three that will end up in the SEC. Don't know about a fourth.

I have read that the Lawrence, Kansas media market is very, very attractive to both the B1G and SEC. It’s literally tens of thousands of people

The next target for the BIG AND SEC is to dominate college basketball and get the majority of the NCAA Purse which is hundreds of millions. Thus, Kansas. It could also be a way to pair Texas, Oklahoma, Mizzo, TA&M Arky, LSU into a pod.

Hey guys, Kansas fan here.
I'm not here to be a problem. I saw this thread in a google search and wanted to add a little bit to it.
Kansas fans did not start this current edition of rumors. The origin of these "Kansas to the SEC" rumors was Greg Flugaur. If that name is not familiar, he was the first, or one of the first, to announce that USC was going to be joining the Big Ten, so he has a track record and he has some very good sources.
Additionally, he didn't say that Kansas is going to the SEC. He said that Kansas is getting consideration for membership in the SEC and that at least one of the former Big 12 conference mates that is now in the SEC is backing them. He also said that the SEC, in a roundabout way, is vetting Kansas for membership. That does not say that the SEC will offer Kansas, but is just doing due diligence on schools that might potentially receive an offer.
There is a very long video, about 2.5 hours, on YouTube made by Flugaur that helps to understand what he actually is saying about the situation. I've watched about half. The video is pretty good and talks about the current state of college sports and why the SEC might be interested in adding a basketball school like Kansas.

Not happening. Other than basketball, they add little. Why would the SEC even want them? Kansas City and St Louis already have Missouri in the league and adding Kansas does nothing.

You're certainly not alone in this viewpoint. I would disagree, but I'm heavily biased. You may be right, but the video I attached explains why you may be wrong.
