We have finally reached outstanding OL play. Our depth is good and we have very good FR and RS-FR that are lower down on the depth chart; this portends very good OLs for us for 2024 and 2025 seasons, even if our OL recruiting moving forward we’re to fall off the cliff (which it won’t).
QB … it is reasonable to expect very good QB play from Klubnik for entire 2024 season. Vizzina, if this year’s RS season is successful, gives us a great chance to have high quality depth for 2024 & 2025 seasons, and very good QB play for 2026 and 2027 season.
RB … I don’t foresee Shipley going pro after this year; Mafah may make the jump to NFL (late round pick). The recruit who is due to come in for 2024 season is supposed to be very good. Our current true FR RBs are fast and should have bodies which are ready for college FB next year. We should be very good at RB next year, and we have reasonable expectations to be very good again in 2025.
WRs … we are already good (took a while) at WR, with A.Williams, T.Brown, C.Turner, and (finally!) T.Stellato being the foundation. Noble Johnson and R.Hannifin … who knows? Incoming for 2024 season are 5* recruits Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore. If these two new guys hold to their commitments, then we should again be WRU for another 2 or 3 years.
TE … for 2024 we will still have Briningstool (he won’t be ready for NFL at end of this year), promising TEs being RS’d, and a stud TE due to come in for start of 2024 season. We will be very good at TE in 2024 and a good chance to have better TE unit for both 2025 and 2026.
Our D-Line has superb starter quality, very good backups, and high quality players at both DT positions and both DE positions that are being RS’d. Our DL recruiting (based on current commits) is superb. We are set for 2024 and 2025 seasons.
DBs will be very good for us next year; if Nate Wiggins returns next year (we need to see if his knee injury keeps him from playing again this year, in which case he won’t go NFL after end of this season), then we will have a superb DB unit for 2024. We’ll not know about 2025 until seeing how this year’s true FR and the incoming recruits (true FR) for 2024 season perform before we can make good predictions about 2025.
LB has me concerned; still assuming that B.Carter and J.Trotter will go pro. We need Woodaz #1 and Woodaz #2 to be better than just good. We need for J.Anderson and Dee Crayton to become really good. We need for Sammy Brown to play at all-ACC level immediately upon arriving on campus. We need still more LBs to sign with us.
Special teams - we have another incoming PK recruit arriving for 2024 season; it is far too soon to discount R.Gunn as being an excellent PK for us. Punter, we seem to be in good shape. Because of PK ???s, this area might be our Achilles Heel for next two years.
(***). In summary, there is legitimacy for projecting a return to CFP quality FB starting 2024 season. The hardest to,establish building blocks of a great team are in place.
