Non SEC expanded playoff strategy

So, including UT and OU in the SEC and assuming a 12 team expanded playoff…
If the ACC, BIG, and PAC 12 vote the expansion down it actually hurts the SEC because they just made it harder to win the the required 11ish games to get in a 4 team playoff.
On the other hand, a 12 team pool could easily include upwards of 5-6 SEC teams making the rich even richer.
Yes the other conferences would get more money ?? with 12 teams but is the gap bigger vs the SEC ???

Definitely! Going to 12 would be playing right into the SEC's hands!

I would expand to no more than eight, AND limit it to no more than two per conference! The SEC won't like that, but the other conferences better stick to their guns, and not roll over for the SEC!

I am really not following the hate around here in teams increasing the difficulty of scheduling. Why isn't it a good thing for the sport having more top matchups?
No one cares to watch a top 5 beat nothing teams by 50.

Over the last 3 years the final top 12 cfp poll after the conference championship weekend included the following: 15 SEC(including OU) 7 BIG 4 ACC (including ND last year) 3 PAC 12 1 Big 12 (excluding OU)
By my rough count the new SEC would’ve had 15 playoff teams and the other power 5s would’ve had 15.

Is your count right, because that would mean there were

6 G-5 teams? I know last year there were two G5's in top 12, but didn't think they did in 2018 & 2019.
But still, your numbers show the SEC has AVERAGED five per year. Getting 5 or 6 SEC teams in most years would not be good for college football, and the nationwide interest in it!

Hey I’m not offended if you wanna check my maff. I used the word “roughly” on purpose. I do remember a UCF, a Cincinnati and a Coastal combined with a non ACC ND or 2 and I’m close. The 15 SEC was accurate.

Better than putting also rans like GA in the playoffs. Tvs would turn off after the first quarter.

100% agree they should limit the playoffs to 8 at the most. 5 champions 3 at large. I like the idea of limiting to 2 from any one conference.

With OU gone, the Big 12 champ will NOT deserve an invite.

If the conference survives, the rest of them will have cupcake schedules without OU and Texas. Baylor will probably win most years but a crap resume. The wheels are already turning against the whole "5 champs" thing.

Every one accuses Clemson of just about every year? And if we drop out games with SEC opponents, that talk will grow even bigger. You are who you are, not who you play. Big 12 most certainly deserve to get a team in.

Just do what was proposed in the 12 team scenario...

The top 5 or 6 highest ranked conference champs get in...including the G5s. You wouldn't be guaranteed to get in just by being a conference champ!

My original point was basically the per team payout of a new sec contract with OU/UT combined with have significantly more playoff teams in a 12 team format would be too high vs the other conferences. One of the few things the other conferences could do would be to put a lid on the number of sec teams by keeping the volume down. It’s really not about “what’s right” or “fair”. It’s all about the Benjamins.
There are two angles for the non sec conferences
A) increase revenue
B) decrease the gap the SEC enjoys.
Most of the conversations out there focus on the A.
