Just because SEC schools have normalized coach firing

after a bad season, that doesnt mean that is a good way to go about things. In this era of college football everybody wants results instantly. Dabo has finally realized and accepted what the program has become. Instead of calling for him to be fired, we need to give him time to adjust to this new way of college football. Dabo is one of the best coaches in the country but he is currently stuck in the 2010s. I believe that this off season he will make the necessary adjustments to regain our past status. Im excited for what's to come and I hope we finish this season strong!

You think Pittman, Napier, or Freeze were fired after just a bad season?

Just for kicks and giggles...

let's say the decision is made for Clemson and Dabo to part ways (something I am in no way advocating). Should that occur, I'm curious who those favoring such a move thinks Clemson would hire to replace him. There are a number of coaching vacancies with more likely to follow, and very few quality coaches to fill those positions. So, would you prioritize an internal hire who maintains the current culture or an external hire to bring a fresh perspective and adapt to the modern college football landscape, particularly regarding the transfer portal and NIL? Another consideration is that replacing a very successful and well-liked coach brings with it A LOT of added pressure.
What say ye!?!?!

A coach replacing a “very successful and well liked coach,” better win. There was much angst and gnashing of teeth when UGA fired Mark Richt. And Richt didn’t have near the success of Dabo.

"Success" is not just defined by the past. True success is measured by current results and the trajectory of the program. In both respects, there is ZERO doubt that "success" is rapidly waning in the Clemson football program. This season it fell off the cliff after several years of lax management by a coach who was VERY successful 5-10 years ago. Barring a miracle it's only getting worse.
No to hiring from within. No to hiring "in the family". We need a strong, proven coach who is still HUNGRY for his success... not riding the coattail of a former glory.

There are some 10-11 head coach vacancies with more to come at seasons end...so where would we fit in the pecking order of hiring coaches? Getting rid of a coach and his staff and paying a new staff (not even considering the buy out they will demand) is probably more money than some third world country's GNP is. The SEC and their ESPN $$,$$$,$$$ will get who they want and the rest will get the scraps.
It's hard me and for many fans to accept, but the College Athletics, especially football has changed. Money appears to have become a, rather THE, priority. We have to adjust to how many wins will now be acceptable. Maybe 9-3 or 10-2 will be the norm. With parity, the "usual suspects" in the playoffs will no longer all be the same. I have been and am still All IN with Dabo. A fine individual and Father figure to the players, a man of conviction (maybe to a fault) and excellent coach who's team is having a "snake bit" season. Sure, I wear Orange Colored glass, but they are pretty clear...until the mud hits! GO TIGERS CU '73

I wouldn't want to be the guy to replace him. Very low chance of success there. Would be like Hatfield trying to replace Ford. Was never going to work out.

The expectations are higher than ever bc when a coach asks for patience to build a program, but then demands insane money after an awesome season, then that level of pay dictates they continue to deliver that level of results.
When things slip and coaches want understanding from the admin or fans, are they also willing to revert back to being paid the same money they were making before?
All of that is a two-way street.

a couple "rogue" on here.
I am curious to some of your statements.
"Dabo has finally realized and accepted what the program has become"
-Has he? If so, how could he have not seen it sooner??......also if so, realizing and doing something about/the right things are two different things. We've been told that he "knows" changes need to be made since 2021 and he's done nothing but ignore/slow play the NEEDED changes.
"I believe that this off season he will make the necessary adjustments to regain our past status."
-I HOPE this happens, but I'll take a wait and see approach.......Nothing he's done/said since 2021 leads me to believe he will or knows what exactly is needed.........but I hope he does.

You think the many inexperienced friends and family will be shown the door, think Dabo will adapt ? Hopefully so, but … time will tell.

Clemson is different, and in a good way. I am a graduate of an ACC school and competed vigorously against Clemson in athletics. Duke University if you must know. Duke a great education for me, but only so meaningful.
Fast forward to today. Is Clemson immune from criticism? No. But no other school I am aware of has a program like ClemsonLife. Talk about being measured by what you do as opposed to what you say. Clemson is knocking it out of the park. And while the Clemson people sponsoring this program and the special needs kids and students deserve all of the credit, it is line with your football coach’s values. That isn’t speculation.
The ACC is better when Clemson is better. So while want our teams to do well, we recognize the Clemson factor. It is highly rational for Clemson fans to have very high expectations for football.
But frankly when I see a special needs person in the Clemson program who has not had it easy in life by any means erupt in joy at finally being truly accepted into a sorority or fraternity or feeling dignified with a great and caring vocational experience with other young people I can’t help but think the school has found an inspirational path. Can you imagine what the parents of these kids think about Clemson? About a football coach who supports these values?
Coach K arranged for great tickets for a special needs man in Durham. He just passed away. The brother of his home improvement contractor. No matter what anyone thought of Coach K or Duke, word got around to parents and families of special kids. They learn to suffer quietly when their kids get ignored, marginalized or treated as less than a person. So even if not a Duke fan, the families know and feel someone was sticking up for their kids. Now Clemson comes along with not just a gesture, but with real actions that are a hundred fold more consequential? You better believe Clemson deserves being called a special place.
I don’t want to come off as preachy but appreciating Clemson for what it does is special. Don’t be like the SEC.
