The polls came out before the season and are updated after every week during the season.

The playoff rankings come out on Nov. 5.

It’s not like we haven’t seen that committee use different arguments to support reranking teams the last week of the season. This brief 12 team version does allow for teams winning their conference to make it in automatically. The BIG and SEC won’t make that mistake again when it expands to 16 teams. They will go off rankings only hoping their hype trains keep out all others but Notre Dame.
