Id say its easier to go from the NFL to college, especially now that players are essentially employees. different story when you go from college to the NFL. theres a reason Saban and Urban couldn't cut it in the NFL. you got to do more than just coach. you got to be a MANAGER! And you cant bully grown men like you can a college kid

but unless he's bringing Tom Brady to UNC with him to play QB, I don't think anybody is going to be too worried about him. He's a .500 coach without Brady.
Also, he and Mack Brown are the same age. Replacing one old fossil with another doesn't sound like the wisest of strategies.
Lastly, Belichick is also known for being not only an a$$ hat but a hard a$$ too, something that likely won't resonate well with todays college players, not to mention the parents of the players he's trying to recruit.

He was fired by New England because he did not relate to players . He never tried because he never cared. Don’t think that will sell with 17 and 18 year olds.

Bill would bring an NFL staff with him that would attract parents and kids looking to make that jump to the NFL. He would just have to manage the program. Love Bill or hate him he would create an even bigger problem for Clemson.

Have you ever read any articles, books or seen documentaries about the guy? Have you met the snowflakes of Gen Alpha? Pete Carrol, Andy Reid or Matt Campbell could be successful dealing with that generation as kids and not young adults.
I hope they hire him though, I am not a fan of the Heels and it would be great to watch the experiment. There will be a ton on controversy when some disgruntled parent gets upset that Bill berated and belittled their future NFL Hall of Famer who is getting 4 snaps a game as a junior but Coach is holding him back.
Saban was very hard on some kids at Alabama but they all believed that he cared about them. I don’t think Bill cares one way or another about players other than that they perform.

I agree with you to a certain extent. There is no doubt about his ability to coach. 75%-80% of players are only interested in the quantity of $$$ in the check. Recruiting is less important these days.

Honestly, I'm surprised UNC would even consider him given his age. What's with them and older football coaches in the twilight of their careers?

Why rehire a coach that's a burnout at 72? UNC just fired a coach (Brown) who's 73. Belichick USED to be great, but too old now. That's why New England parted ways with him. No coach at that age is going to succeed. History backs me up. He may draw some recruits, but he won't win at UNC anymore than Mack Brown did. A very dumb move by UNC if they do that. A good move for Clemson and the rest of the ACC if they do. Better hire a younger, proven coach.

You're right, he USED to be great. I still think he's a brilliant football mind (in terms of Xs and Os) but the game had completely passed him by as a GM and he was too hard headed to give up front office control. He will do the same thing in college. I guess it might work but I'd be super skeptical. And even if it did work how long is he realistically going to coach? 5-6 years?
He isn't going to recruit like Ryan Day, Kirby Smart, etc. he's going to probably sit back and let the guys come to him which is essentially what he did as a GM with the Patriots and ultimately it was his downfall. The belief that the system and the "Patriot Way" was bigger than the individual players on the field.

Why would UNC hire another old guy? Here’s my theory. Belichik could bring instant interest , publicity and money into a program that needs CPR. If there’s a younger coach in waiting I’m fine with it. No, I don’t think Belichik will bring long term success and maybe not even short term success but he would accomplish the goals I stated above.
I think this could also be about basketball. UNC is watching big money football schools of the SEC kick butt in basketball recruiting. Why? Because that big football money funnels into basketball as well. UNC is losing in the recruiting wars in basketball. Heck, it’s not even recruiting now It’s just a bid war. Heels recruited 9 centers in the basketball portal and lost out on every single one. Now they have a massive crater in the post and getting their butts kicked in basketball. Fans won’t tolerate that very long. So, I think they realize football success is now needed for success in other sports. Will it work if Belichik gets hired ? No idea but it might be worth a shot. Heck, what does UNC have to lose in football? Nothing else has ever worked.
I absolutely despise what college sports has become. But here we are so I guess schools play the game or get left.
